Intel HD Graphics Feedback

I held off on pre-order because i suck and have a Intel HD Graphics card on my Macbook pro.

Macbook Pro 15 inch Early 2011
OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.2
Processor 2GHz Intel Core I7
Memory 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

looking for feedback from anyone if the game runs with the intel graphics. Is it playable what are the drawbacks??

I had it boot up on Intel Graphics (optimus problem), and found it unenjoyable at 1080p with lowest graphics settings (i7 3820, HD4000). So, I'm sorry to pull the trigger, but I wouldn't if I were you :/

I have the Intel HD 4400 and it's smooth on the low settings. The low settings don't look bad, either.

I have a core i5 Surface Pro 2 with Intel 4400 and only 4GB on the tablet. I'm playing on low settings and it's ok. Not buttery smooth, but not bad. On low settings and no AA enabled. Only up to 2k population though so who knows when it gets bigger. I'm guessing having only 4GB RAM isn't helping with Intel card sharing like 1.7 GB of it.

But its a 4400, not sure how much better that is then what you have.

Keep in mind - There is a BIG gap between the 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xxx series. It's not just a little "notch" upwards.

Not supporting Intel HD iGPU's is perfectly common with Game developers. Intel makes terrible integrated GPU's that almost always have serious issues with games and demand special attention and workaround code to work well (if at all)

I don't have a problem with the game not officially supporting Intel GPUs. That's fine. I'm not sure why you'd go through the hassle of supporting OS X then not support Intel GPU, seems extraordinarily silly, but whatever.

No one in this thread really cares about why they wouldn't support the cards. And I don't think anyone is questioning that there's a difference between the different series. All anyone wants to know is whether or not it will run on their particular hardware.

An experienced comment explaining that the gap between an Intel HD2000 and HD4000 is so large that you should not trust the former to run if anyone with the latter confirms it does run. (Because - As you may have noticed - If you read the thread, people are unsure of that exact difference)

I suggest you pack up your tone and try to stay constructive.

My Iris Pro is kindly telling you to go pound sand.
This isn't 2012 when the HD 4000 was the best iGPU around... The Iris Pro is on par with midrange dGPUs.

There's probably a pretty big gap between and Iris GPU and the 4xxx series, right? No one in this thread before C40LFR's post reported anything better than a 4400... so according to your own posts, that it runs on someone's Iris machine probably isn't very helpful information to anyone else in this thread, right?

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but...

I have one of the better Nvidia graphics card out there for a desktop computer and one of the best monitors for this type of game and Cities Skylines lags like crazy. The Start menu is okay for me but once the game loads nothing is smooth at all, no matter what kind of options I select.

Same with my gaming-dedicated laptop. It is an ASUS laptop designed for gaming but it does pretty much nothing but lag which is annoying.

Well that's because your "gaming" laptop (chuckle) runs its CPU cores at a lower frequency - Skylines (as with most other AI agent intensive games, not to mention all Paradox Studio games) makes greater demands of your CPU than your GPU once the base requirements have been exceeded (and provided you don't bottleneck the CPU by increasing your GPU visuals above what the card can be expected to pull off)

Edit: I love how hostile Apple fanboys have become (You're both such prime examples of why people don't like them) I'm so glad I got off that particular train a decade ago. Now the G3/4 days before Intel came around - Mac actually had proper graphics cards.

You've literally posted nothing useful... except to point out that different generations of graphics cards have large gaps in performance... a point that wasn't necessarily misunderstood or confused in this thread.

You don't own a Mac. You can't test whether or not the game works on a Mac.

Can't I test an Intel HD chip? Uh... well - I hate to break it to you but those things are built into processors nowadays. If I wanted to I could easily downclock my processor and swap to the iGPU to match that of a modern day Powerbook. Would I? Not with your attitude that's for sure.

We were talking about Intel GPUs here, not sure where owning a Mac came into the equation. A computer is a tool - using a Mac doesn't it make me a fanboy. The fact that the discussion is about iGPUs, yet you had to start name calling, makes you look like an idiot.
