So yes, I have been cheating and using the "instantconstruction" cheat but next thing I know, I have GB invading France (I am Germany) with 183 divisions out of nowhere in 1942. I am either thinking this is a bug or the instantconstruction cheat allows all the countries to build their production orders. Anyone have any insight to this?

If you really want to have cheats only for the country you are currently playing, you can modify the file "static_modifiers.txt" which is located in the HoI3\common folder.

Here is an example:

(original content)
easy_player = {
global_manpower_modifier = 0.25
global_revolt_risk = -1

global_ic = 0.25
global_resources = 0.25

supply_throughput = 0.25
naval_base_efficiency = 0.25

(add those values, or some of them into the same category)
global_leadership_modifier = 50
dissent = -5
global_money = 100
unit_recruitment_time = -5
espionage_bonus = 50
territorial_pride = 1
war_consumer_goods_demand = -0.5
peace_consumer_goods_demand = -0.5
counter_intelligence = 50
officer_recruitment = 2
industrial_efficiency = 50
supply_throughput = 50
unit_start_experience = 500
offmap_land_intel = 50
offmap_political_intel = 50
offmap_naval_intel = 50
offmap_industry_intel = 50
combat_movement_speed = 50
attack_reinforce_chance = 50
org_regain = 50
defend_reinforce_chance = 50
supply_consumption = -0.5
land_organisation = 50
naval_organisation = 50
air_organisation = 50
research_efficiency = 10

}

hard_player = {
global_manpower_modifier = -0.1
global_revolt_risk = -0.1
...
...
...

In the game, just select the difficulty level you added the values and voilá - you play with ridiculous advances!! Setting research Efficiency to 10 means you have your research speed increased by 1000 % ...

Allthough I guess that the game won't be much fun anymore.

Ahh - but it is so useful this way. Starting a game, you can go to Japan and queue up a bunch of transports as well as visit some other countries to set things up. Then you turn on the instant build long enough for them to get the goods, turn it back off, and start building your own stuff. It is a lazy man's modder :rofl:

Why bother? You should be able to do it without cheats. I assume you're playing Germany 36...

1. If you want to reoccupy the rhineland, divide up some divisions so they are only 2 brigades each, to meet the requirement for number of divisions. Move in and trigger the event.
2. Restructure your ministry to give you as much IC and espionage as you can get.
3. Disband all your starting units...you don't need them eating up supplies, and you can pump them out quickly later. I suppose you don't have to do this, it's your call. The supplies they need will cause you to build less IC though.
4. Start trading now for everything you need, and sell supplies to US and USSR. They love german supplies!
5. Start building things that have a short turn around but give practical, like forts and such. Good place to build them is along the French border and on all your ports.
6. After all that is built, start building IC. Build twenty or thirty at a time. Place them, repeat.
7. Eventually you'll have the IC you think you'll need to win the war, I usually stop around 38-39, with just enough time to spool up your army. I start the war a little later then usual, but hey I want to make sure I'm ready! :)

Manipulating the world via diplomacy and espionage is a different matter, but is something you should do as well.

This is definitely wrong. I tested it too and the funny thing is it won't help Denmark against Germany, as it builds instantly only the units you have currently on the green. So that's dependent on IC: smaller countries will have one unit built after the cheat, larger will have 100 units.

And guys, there's no cheating in Grand Strategy games. You're simply researching various what-ifs - or try to correct some of the errors made by Paradox. That's why I believe this "cheat" should be corrected to do what it's supposed to do.
Cheers

Meh. They should remove all the "cheats" anyway. If you want to fix the what-ifs, use/make a mod.

Why remove them...well, they're just too tempting :p

I agree that a cheat, or a mod, or possibly a radical strategy can change any outcome so it only reallyonly matters on your play style and what you believe is realistic and/or how much fun it is to play for you.

I can control the temptation when playing for fun. But I'm a modder and at times I simply need a way to check how things work before I edit the files and make my work public. Also, it's easier to finish some techs and see what models are associated with them than to search for them in the files.

eh.. thats not a cheat, its a testing feature for the testers.
Precisely. I'd also love some console commands to lower the supplies, oil or energy. I guess some of you guys would call that cheating too, right? :D
Cheers
