My computing skills are obviously subpar, and I'm ok with that. Can someone please explain to me how to install the two most recent fixes?

Download, and then unpack it to where you keep CK on your HD. It should be a pretty painless process. You need winrar to unpack the files (it's a free download easily found via google).
Downloading a program that can open .rar files is indeed the first step. Winrar is a solid one, I think it can be found from www.download.com. The default settings should be mostly ok, just remember to choose the directory you have Crusader Kings at. From the box that might appear asking if it´s ok to overwrite files choose yes to all.
Thanks for the help. All appears to be working fine, even my old save game from 1.04 is working, which I didn't expect.
Just to be sure: does it also say in the upper corner of the starting screen that you are running a beta patch?
In the top right corner of the menu screen it says 1.04b BETA (June 3 2005). I'm totally 3L337.
This is normal the exe-file didn't get changed in latest beta. Only in June 3rd beta.
