Installing Online Games is Frustrating

I fully understand the pirate issue. I was just ranting off I can't and won't connect my desktop to the internet due to security reasons. Hence why I use my laptop, it is purely a vessel to surf the internet, if it becomes corrupted I just lose my laptop and not my desktop which contains sensitive work.

Just get a firewall already..

On a side note: how can you have an expensive new laptop and NOT be able to play EU3 on it? ... i play EU3 on my laptop from work ( wich is a a Dell Latitude D830 ) and it works fine!

I am really jealous. I bought this laptop from the states but did not think about the installed graphics card which is the problem.

Yes but that would mean me leaving the house when I want to play right now I'm going to try the disc way first if not I better get my a&se down the shops

He he sorry It's just that I have been so looking forward to this update. I could not sleep last night I was up at midnight to download the game up realised that I would have to wait till 8am UK time, took the day off work which was hard enough and now I have wasted 2.5 valuable play time

Well, dont be such an internet baby and getyourself a virus checker and plug into the net.

get virus checkers from AVG or AntiVir, they have brilliant free versions.

So if you have all of those applications.. Just plug it in!
You won't get hacked or attacked by viruses...
And there is a thing called back up for your "sensitive" work.

Omigod FOUR hours now and still not been able to play the damn game. I tried copying the WHOLE game is a disc and transferring it to my desktop.

DID NOT WORK....had error message: This application has failed to start because d3dx9_35.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I thought ok try something else. I went back to my laptop. Uninstalled everything. Re-installed original EU3 game then NA and then IN tried to start the game on my laptop (as it does work but the graphics are screwed) just to see if all was ok before I transferred to my desktop...........same error message.

OK the forums must have an answer.......ha found it!!! looks like I need latest DirectX 9 but isn't there DirectX 9 on the EU3 disk!?!? I opened up the D: drive and tried to run the dxsetup but it states that a newer version of DirectX is already installed. No installation is necessary. But the game still does not work.

I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE GAME. I am not a computer expert, I am a regular joe who just likes to play Paradox games. Somebody please please please help me!!!!!!!!

What happened to the days when you went out buy a game you like installed it onto your computer and played the damn thing.

IN will likely require the latest version of DirectX 9. People had similar issues with EU: Rome and it's demo.

Aka either get the newest dx9 if you run XP or dx10 if you run vista:

They can be found floating around the internet, pretty much eveywhere you look

i do not have IN yet, so i'm only guessing based on NA experience: if you download IN to an "internet" pc (even without having EU3 installed on it) in the default folder the installer set (it was "Napoleon" for NA), then you only have to past & copy this "IN" folder into the EU3 main folder on your game pc (overwriting it)... and that should be all

only problem can rise when you have to upgrade your game with a new patch, since the patch installer could not find any IN registry enter

at least, i hope this could be still true...
