Installation of EU2

I recently (18 Nov. 2001) purchased EU2. When I inserted the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, the auto run option was not triggered, so I installed the game through Windows Explorer. Installation seemed to proceed smoothly, including DirectX 8. However, when I clicked on the EU2 icon, the arrow changed to the hourglass (as it should), but EU2 failed to run. My system is as follows:

1. Pentium II – 450 MHz
2. 192 Mb of RAM
3. 3Dfx Voodoo2 video card
4. Windows 98

I would appreciate it if anybody could assist me with my problem.
