Hello,

Is there a link or message that explains installing the game?

What is best practice?

I hate doing it wrong or assuming the wrong starting point.

I have clean installs:
HoI2
HoI2 - Dooms Day
HoI2 - Armageddon
HoI2 - Iron Cross

Darkest Hour is a stand alone game. Just run the installer and make sure it doesn't install into Program Files in case you use Vista/7. By default install path is C:\Games\Darkest Hour.

Windows Vista/7 use a protection on that (and other) folders that could cause problems with some programs. In the case of DH you could have troubles with the Launcher (unless run as Administrator) - nothing that cannot be solved by any Windows user, but requires a bit more experience and could confuse some people.

Not only confuse - frighten. As soon as I see anything that mentions the word 'administrator' I turn the machine off and retire to a safe distance.
