Install Core0.4

Aloha!

It seems that I am not able to install core o.4. What I did:
-Installing HoI Doomsday
-patching to 1.3a
-Installing Arma
-patching to 1.3b2
-Installing Core 0.4
-Installing Core with colours
-Installing the Graphic Improvement P8

I installed Core with colours to the moddir-directory.
I installed Core 0.4 directly to the Doomsday-directory, because there was no Armageddon-directory
I installed the Graphic Improvement P8 to the Doomsday-directory as it is asked for.
---
Results:
Arma 1.3b2 is up and running
Core gives me the starting picture and then I have
"mod-core2/db/events/vanilla/cored_albania.txt is missing, a lot of similar messages are following.

What did I wrong???

Help is appreciated!

Do you have any old installs of CORE on your system ? Where does your CORE desktop shortcut point to ?

The pointer looks for the core-mod folder.
I have a 1914-mod installed in its own directory. Is that a problem?

There's no need to patch Doomsday up to 1.3 before upgrading it to Armageddon. Just install Doomsday, upgrade to Armageddon, patch to 1.2, unpack the 1.3b2 files to your install directory and verify it's running. You might want to backup this clean install for future use (faster than going through all the installer stuff).

Then install CORE, if the installer did not detect your Doomsday/Armageddon install directory, manually point it to your install directory. You should now have a Desktop shortcut to Core, please try to run it.
If it runs OK install the graphics pack - it should install in your Armageddon directory, not in the moddir subfolder.

What's your OS - Vista?

Thank you for your advice. I will try again on monday, when I am back from a business meeting.
I have no Armageddon-directory. So everytime when I am asked to install to the Armageddon-directory I install to the doomsday-directory.
I think it depends on the original version of HoI. I have doomsday, so is it ok that I have no Armageddon-directory? And then upgrade to Armageddon? After the upgrade to Armagedon there is still no directory called "armageddon". Is that o.k.?
I want to go for core, because I loved the past versions. But as an elderly staff officer trying to match up with modern computer technology I fear, I am on the wrong end of the towel.
Until now I used more than 10 hours to start a core 0.4 game. Without success.
To the developers: I appreciate your skills and your work, but please keep in mind that a lot of the users are no specialists in computer technology. They are just users, like me.
So please keep it simple!

I will try to help you out:

1.Get a clean Armageddon 1.3 Beta2 install up and running (checksum should be PHVR)

2. Copy the whole folder (IIRC C:\Programme\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday not 100% sure, haven't done it in a while ) to e.g. C:\Programme\Paradox Interactive\core (I know it is not necessary, it doesn't hurt either and IF something goes wrong, you still have your clean Arm 1.3)

3. Install core into C:\Programme\Paradox Interactive\core (this will create the subfolder C:\Programme\Paradox Interactive\core\mod-CORE2

4. Install the graphics package into C:\Programme\Paradox Interactive\core

I did not bother to install GIP, so that should be fine.

The desktop link should point to "C:\Programme\Paradox Interactive\core\HOI2.exe" mod-CORE2

Checksum is LXES

Whatever you do, don't patch the DD version to 1.3a! Just do a clean DD install, patch to ARM, and patch that in turn to 1.3b2 (perhaps go for the 1.2 patch first, before applying the 1.3b2 patch).

Then install CORE by selecting the directory ARM is installed in, for each of our installers (we will actually install the game in the mod-CORE2 subdirectory automatically). The same goes for GIP, which will install in the regular game directory, so you might want to back-up the gfx subdirectory first, in case you want to revert to the original setup.

My problem is that I installed everyting in right order, when I start the game I have GIF icons and so but I still have the orginal game, not running CORE. I was wondering of the exe installar did not make me an proper short cut with command to start the mod. As I start the game with starting hoi.exe Need to know what the short cut/command after hoi.exe says.

Needs to be modified with your installation path

Please make sure you install CORE with flavour events, there's a problem with the installer: It uses an outdated event register file if CORE is installed without flavour events.
