My initial annoyances and surprises were that space bar isnt used for anything (not even confirm/fire etc) and right mouse click doesnt cancel actions/back out of menus etc like Xcom2.

Oh, i would also like an option to make the tooltips pop up instantly instead of having a delay when hovering over something.

I still do have some issues with the tech problems such as inconsistent performance and somewhat over long animations with the UI issues as described above. Still XCOM 2 had similar problems so I guess i'm used to dealing with them now. I do think the pauses and hangs have gotten worse from the beta.

And the observation that the tutorial didn't describe some of the UI (like mulit-shotting, enabling certain weapons to reduce heat increase), unless I missed it?

Yeah I also feel like the game was designed for people with previous Battletech experience in mind (skipping explaining a lot of UI that isn't all that straightforward). Also, the game runs smoothly on my MBP, but the cutscenes stutter pretty badly.

With that said... the game is reaaaaaalllll good.

the game could use some optimization... but it's nothing close to the horror that X-com 2 was on release. I basically could barely play Xcom 2 until WOTC was released which vastly improved performance.
