So as the title suggests, it could be interesting to capture or inherit schematics ( research blueprints or bonuses or outright techs ) and variants of vehicles not as actual number of equipment but as a model that could be produced. Any thoughts?

There could be a chance to trigger an event and it is also historically plausible as well as funny addition to game. I understand that it will not be included in vanilla game but maybe an expansion or dlc?

That would work but maybe we could get some variants as well, especially in multiplayer game that could be awesome, I would say this could be an option that could be turned on or off before the game. Like full IC takeover and techteam takeover in HOI2.

It would have to be so that when you took over the state with the industry the production lines obviously would be damaged but would start producing the equipment it was originally making. So if Germany takes over Poland and just one example Poland was making Infantry Equipment 1 Germany would gain at a very low efficiency a new production line making Infantry Equipment 1 which they could then switch out to something else or let it continue to be built and regain efficiency as the factories are repaired. Techs on the other hand might be difficult because how would you fit the new ones into your current tech tree without running out of space, perhaps it would be better if it reduced by some number of days that tech if you haven't researched it yet or in the case of a variant you won't have to spend combat points to unlock the variant for your same level of Equipment if you haven't already.

IMO, if we annex nation, which has some better tech, we should get some bonus to their research, but not things like whole techs, or equipment variants.

I think if you take a capital of a nation you have a % chance of stealing that tech, most nations would burn the paper work giving the finger to their new overlords.

I have a sneaking suspicion this will make it's way into the game via a DLC for an espionage system they weren't able to fit into the base game. ;)

Now that you mention it, the Espionage component of this game hasn't really been spoken about.

I personally think Espionage is an important component of any strategy game, and a lot of strategy games miss out on it completely.

I am going to give this a massive +1. When you take over a country you should be able to get at least some of the designs they have as a 'variant' on the tanks you can already build. Let's take Germany as an example. As Germany you are already able to build the Panzer I and II which have specific bonusses in their firepower, engine, reliability etc. By defeating Czechoslovakia you should atleast unlock the Pz 35(t) and the Pz 38(t). Those tanks don't even have to be new tech tree options but can count as variants of the Pz I and Pz II with points allocated in different things and of course a correct picture for immersion reasons. The Czechoslovakian factories which were producing the Pz 35(t) (or when you're late the Pz 38(t)) should as someone mentioned before be given to you with those tanks on the production line which can be switched out or continued to be produced.

In other (and shorter) words: when you conquer other countries you should get their vehicles as 'variants' you can build in your own factory. These vehicles should be tanks/planes etc the conquered country already started producing or already had researched and not future tech. What also might be a good alternative is that you can only pick a certain amount of 'variants' to copy so that when you conquer France you don't suddenly get an extreme amount of extra vehicles. It does sound like a historical accurate addition though and more stuff to build is always awesome. The Germans did not only use Czechoslovakian tanks as an example but also used French designs after they took over like the Somua S35. Im interested to see if and how HoI IV is going to deal with this, I hope it is featured in the game one way or the other.

And updating these questions = recent WWW #7 episode, where Daniel is currently tromping through the URAL MTNS in the USSR, is my post #22 in this thread - how does this apply to the USSR?
