Trying to press a war against France and at the suggestion of someone on the boards I married off my son (set at heir, elective) to a courtier who had a claim to the French thrown, with the idea that she would pass the claim to her heirs). Well when she died he son did not inherit her weak claim.

What are the rules for when weak claims (or strong I guess too) are inherited by children. Thanks.

I don't know the rules, but to check whether the claim will be passed on, select the character and mouse over the claim. If there are red letters staring back at you, you need to press the claim in war before it can be passed on.

Strong claims will be passed on unless they are fabricated.
