Inheritance Problem

Ok... I was playing as Denmark... excuse me, the King of Denmark, in the 1066- GC. After about 15 years, good old King Svend died, and... the game ended. I had an heir of my own dynasty, Harald, yet for some reason, going through this with several different inheritance laws seems to always end the game.

I tried playing as the King of France, and had no problems passing on the throne.

What am I missing?

And since I forgot to mention this, I was playing on 1.00 and 1.01. The same problem happened on both.

There's a known bug in the 1066 setup for Denmark, where the sons are give a different dynasty than their father...

If you edit the sons surname to be the same as yours it should work ok

They are your children. But they are listed as Svendsen's, while the father is Estridsen and thus (in game terms) of a different dynasty...

Is this last name requirement going to remain? I always thought that Svendson meant "son of Svend" and so any childredn of a man named Svend should have the surname Svendson, just as any childredn of Eric would be Ericson.

Or am I missing something else?

That is correct. Unfortunately, the "surname" is used for the dynasty - hence Olaf Yngling of Norway instead of Olaf Haraldsson as he was know...
