Currently my capable ruler Queen of Wales eldest daughter is being passed over as my heir in favour of my fat lazy married to a random courtier in the ass end of nowhere second daughter. Is there anything anyone knows of that could be causing this aside from a bug? I've even tried murdering my second daughter and her children (in the interests of science) and the succession then goes to the third daughter, still ignoring the first.

What law do you have? What's your crown authority? What's the girls precise relationship to eachother? Di they have the same father? Were any of the marriages matrilineal?

My best guess is your eldest is simply ineligible. There could be a variety of reasons for this -- if your crown authority is high people who live in foreign courts can't inherit, for example; or perhaps you have seniority, your eldest is the product of a non-matrilineal marriage, and thus cannot be the eldest member of your dynasty.

My second best guess is that you have Elective Law, and one of your Dukes hates your eldest.

But I really can't be more specific without more info.

It's... Agnatic-Cognatic Primogeniture, I think. The "eldest male child inherits everything or eldest female child if no male children" one. Crown Authority is only second from bottom I think, which I'm pretty sure still allows inheritance outside of the realm. Also all children are from the same matrilineal marriage from my Queen to the previous King of Wales; the eldest daughter inherited the Welsh throne as intended but for some reason is no longer in line to the Irish one. Is there something stopping one king title inheriting another? That's about all I can think of.

Is she illegitimate? Or excommunicated (that excluded someone from succession in CK1 IIRC).

Have to say I've seen it skip an elder child and not been able to figure out why too though.

Double-check the Crown Authority. To get Primo you need high Crown Authority, so you almost certainly had it jacked up really high at one point. Make sure you double-check for all your titles. Because you had to jack it up in both Ireland and Wales, and then you would have to reduce it again.

And if one of the countries has high Crown Authority, and your eldest is considered Irish by the game, we'd get precisely the behavior you're describing.

Yeah it's at Limited. I got Primo while still the Duchy of Munster.

Could you possibly rephrase above mentioned situation (1st post), so that everbody understands whats actually going on ?
Otherwise im not sure if i get it correctly. Very confusing. Funny but confusing.

Sounds like Ireland's crown authority might be too high to let it happen, based on your posts. I had the exact same problem for me in Sicily trying to inherit parts of Greece, the Byzantine Empire's authority is too high for me to pick them off this way.

Ok I'll give it a shot.

I'm playing (or was at the time) a Queen of Ireland under Male Preference Primogeniture which was instituted prior to my forming Ireland as the Duchy of Munster (hence before Ireland had any crown authority). Both my sons have predeceased me and I have 4 living daughters.

The eldest daughter is the reigning Queen of Wales. She is being passed over for the succession in favour of her younger daughters and their children. She's a legitimate, non-excommunicated child, and crown authority is only at limited which still allows for succession outside of the realm. All other daughters have horrible patrilineal marriages their idiot father arranged for them because I couldn't stop him (pest!). I've solved some of these (with murder) to the point where my third daughter is tolerable as an heir but the ideal successor would still have been my eldest.

As an aside I'm currently reduced to having my third daughter as Queen. Both her and her eldest sister are childless, over 50, and spend most of their time trying to murder each other as they're each others heir. It's kind of entertaining but I predict my dynasty imploding pretty soon.
