Can someone explain (or point me to) a detailed explanation of how the new infrastructure system works.

I did read the manual - and as such I am aware that boosting infrastructure now boosts both the IC and resource production of a province.

What I am not sure of is how exactly it works in practice. I assume that a province with 100% infrastructure ensures that both the IC and rare materials are extracted at full capacity. However, infrastructure can now be built up to 200% yet this does not seem to produce a corresponding 200% increase in IC and raw materials (which is sensible). The benefit gained seems to fall away as you build more.

As such has anyone produced any guidance as to what an 'ideal' infrastructure level is - where the IC 'invested' in building infrastructure stops being worthwhile.

What does seem obvious is that building infrastructure in high IC/high resource provinces can be very reward - but is it rewarding enough to boost it up to 200% or is there a point where diminishing return kicks in.

It is possible that this has been published elsewhere - or that I even missed the relevant part of the manual - and as such would appreciate if people could advise where I can find the info.

Thanks...

I am not sure yet too but it looks to me that IC boosted by infrastructure is more vulnerable to dissent hits.

Yesterday I did a lot of infra in a US game. Theoritical Base IC at 283, with my programm I pushed it up to a effective base IC of 300 - got a dissent hit from some event and at 2% I fell down to 283 again (recovering once dissent moved below 0.90.

Not that accurate as it was late and me being tired, however the next time I do only IC in already IC rich provinces (as US maybe 4 serials) and infra only in those too.

However, mind that I am still having huge problems to get on friendly terms with the game (I assume I played HoI2 wrongly too), especially the pre war years still leave me unprepared and highly unsatisfied with myself:eek:o

Hi all.

I was thinking about starting a new thread - is building IC worth it for Germany? ('36, hard/aggressive).

Seems like this is a good place though -

I got to Poland and felt I needed to have built more subs/planes etc earlier in the game taking advantage of the gearing bonus instead of building IC - should I have built Infrastructure instead?

Will some sage on the issue come along and provide us the 'golden mean' between infrastructure/IC and resources? Please...

I think most people who play Germany build a lot of factory based IC from day 1. Since in AoD you gain a bonus for more factories in a providence, build new ones in places that you already have a lot of factories. You can build maybe 3 runs in 12-14 providences before the start of the war. You can do less if you think you'll want a larger army, but in AoD I had no problems beating France and Poland with this method. Then you'll have a few years to build up for the war with the Soviets.

I am unsure of the percentages with infrastructure though. 10% infrastructure takes 17 days more then a factory and costs 1 IC. You can build it at the same time as factories though. If you focus in providences with high factories and high resources it might work really well.

If we were the kind of people who were happy just to know there are choices - but dont care what difference they make - then I dont think we'd be playing this game :p :D

I've just restarted a Germany game and this time gone for a run of factories in the 6 highest concentration provinces - plus a run of infrastructure in these plus the top resource provinces. I'll report back when I get some results to share.

My pre-war buildup as Germany that I am happiest with so far is:

1) 10 highest IC/Resource provinces getting Infrastructure boosts to 200%

2) 28 IC for a literal 170 base IC

3) 6 oil plants

4) 4 synthetic material plants

All of the above except for the Infrastructure is done by mid-1938, and the synthetic plants really pay off in 1943 when they've been fully researched and my rares deficit has usually wiped out my stockpile.

Sounds a lot like what I was thinking. I just want to know if it would be better to build more factories instead of the infrastructure or not. As far as I got in my Germany game the only resource problem I had at all was rares as well - not surprising. Germany has so much energy that you might as well take advantage of it.

Can someone please explain the change to infrastructure? What is the logic to being able to improve beyond 100%? It sounds like the new max is 200%. And I believe someone mentioned that building infrastruture now results in a dissent hit. I'm trying to understand what infrastruture has to do with dissent? I find nothing in the manual to explain any of this. I'd like to understand. Thanks. Cheers.

i have another question about infrastructure, in berlin and one other province i had 5/10 levels completed and then after that the 6th was never completed and got to like 163% completion before i just decided to cancel the run, i kinda figured 150 was the max but later i noticed i could actually build more....what im wondering is if im just going insane or if this actually occurs, cant really understand the point behind it if it actually does so id assume it would be a bug...but like i said, i might just be going insane :eek:o

Can any one tell me what's the major benefit to have a 200% Infrastructure province instead of a 100% one?

Especially when playing an offensive game?

it would be nice if someone would actually post the formula.

IE how much the Infrastructre affects IC and how much the IC concentration bonus is.

In another thread it has been stated that it also increases resource production; and that at 200% infra you get a 50% increase. I hope this is true!! :)

Now this makes sense to me. And it explains why & how dissent comes into play.

Still trying to wrap my mind around the concept of "greater than" 100% infrastructure. :p But, as an abstract concept, I can deal with it.
