Hi,

I am a big fan of EU1 en EU2. I still play both games and still have great fun.
 .

I have been reading about Victoria and the game sounds like big fun. :D .

However I also played HOI and I did not like it. It was to buggy and things did not seem to work the way they were suposed to. Also I did not like the diplomatic possibilities.

I heared Vic is a mix of EU2 and HOI. I know its complex and that is not a problem. Should I buy it or is itnot my cup of tea. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Marcov

If you want a fairly complex mix of EUII and HoI then Vic is the game for you! However, you could get a better answer is you gave a list of the things you liked and disliked in the other 2 games and I could compare it to Vic.

Having played EU2 and HOI (not too buggy by 1.05c and with core mod) I can honestly say that Victoria is the best one of the lot, but it does take some getting used to as there is one hell of a lot to manage / control / wonder about. 1.03 has fixed most of the game breaking bugs and balabce issues, not to say there are few things that still need sorting out (devolving pops, no pop cash), but you can play through them without too much trouble and without detracting from fun.

As a disciple of the God of Thunder & Rock and Roll I recommend an immediate purchase.

I have to disagree with the conventional wisdom that Victoria is some sort of cross between EU2 and HOI--it's a totally different game, and it's without precedent in so many respects. Its economic model really makes you appreciate how simplified the economies in EU2 and HOI really are in comparison, and diplomatically speaking, there are more options than EU2 or HOI. On the other hand, as a wargame, it's probably slightly less complicated than HOI.

Factory micromanagement, especially when dealing with frustrations such as devolving pops, can be tedious--at times, it has seemed more like work than play. That said, however, there's something very compelling about the game, and it's already got me hooked.

If you like detail and you like the long 19th century, buy this game. Heck, if you like Paradox games, buy this game--it's a good game! There are some bugs that really get under my skin right now, but I'm confident that they'll be fixed.

I didn't like HOI either until 1.05! Even then, I still don't like the singleplayer game--multiplayer is where HOI really shines. I haven't played Victoria multiplayer yet, but if it's as fun as the singleplayer Vicky experience (and MP is almost always more fun than SP), then I'll definitely give it two thumbs up!
