Information from Save file -provinces

Hi there
I want to discuss the problem , how to get information from eu4 save file about number of prvinces that country(x) acctualy have.
Is this hard to get this kind of information?
And if i make timelapse and have save file from 1821y. can i have acces to history of possesed provinces every year?or i have to make save file manually every year?
I would like to move that information to exel format (tables)or something like that.
