So just to hopefully save you guys Time and Money I have posted these here for you.
But Before that i'd just like to say that it's great we all like to play these games. However, looking at the images of War i just seen.. I would never ever wish this kind of atrocity on anyone..

I truly hope we one day live in a world where we can respect each others differences not only as individuals but as different cultures and people and not let Ideologies new or old take that away from us.. after all our differences is what makes us unique & our similarities.. is what unites us.

SO Here I have kept Paradox Friendly images of The National Portuguese Armies to help give you Paradox a greater insight on how things were back then for all our enjoyment :)

Just like to Add that Portuguese Dragoons have been one of if not the best Dragoons proved countless times. We also have pretty good units called Cassadors (The Hunters) only because as a small nation with not a quantity of people they went for the quality route.

I wouldn't worry about people disagreeing - people on the internet disagree far too easily, and it doesn't necessarily mean anything (and often isn't particularly logical). I will admit I wasn't entirely sure from your post exactly what you were proposing in the context of HoI4, but I don't disagree with it (and I definitely agree that we should try not to wish real warfare on anyone, and keep it to the videogame sphere :)).

Disagreement may come from a sense that this thread doesn't belong in the HOI4 forum, ie. what does it have to do with the game?
It's a historical game and it's represented in 3d? ie, when paradox are selling unit pack DLCs it could give them or us an idea what to expect.

To add on that great comment. It's not just a ' OHH Portuguese only thing' These images were from a time including all nations that impact all history.. not to mention its of a nation that had territory still on the soil of many parts of the world hence there is images of in Africa of AsiaTimorese commando and in Europe as well of people participating In wars that impacted all of us as humans on this Earth.

This also shows what women were doing during war time in these periods.

So hopefully we answered 'what does it have to do with the game?' from varies view points.

Most of the photos in the ww2 area are from the colonial wars. Only a couple are from ww2 era.

So, whats the point to show all the other stuff?

Whilst I don't disagree with your post and think the beginning of this should be said and done more often, there are maybe 3 reasons why people disagree with your post

1.: It is misleading. Your title says "information for paradox". When I clicked on it I thought some one has discovered a broken mechanic during WWW and wanted to notify paradox. I thought the thread would be more important overall because of the title presentation, which brings us to number two:

2.: All capital letters in thread titles makes you look like a moron (sorry). Did you notice that no other title on this forum is in all capitals? Not even the Forum Rules Post which for me is the most important thread in the whole forum. It is just an unwritten rule because we are on a civilized forum for discussions not on a market square where we need to get the attention of customers by shouting. This thought is on my mind when I look at the OP Post which brings me to number 3:

3.: Portugal in WW2 just isn't important in a game where the focus lies on fighting. I mean the only militaristic thing they did afaik is giving the allies bases on the azores and trading with literally everyone! I think paradox cannot bother with making a special sprite pack for them at least not at the moment.

I'm sorry if this was a bit direct and rude:oops:. I think you can just change your title to more like "a little help for Paradox concerning sprites" and even transform this thread to a place where people can post photos for smaller countries' armies to maybe indeed help paradox with the research or just for funsies;)

Hi thanks for your comments. I will address it.

1: ''It is Misleading .Your title says "information for paradox". " It is Information for Paradox just not the kind of information you or anyone who disliked finds interesting.
( the real reason why people dislike it.)

2: ''All capital letters in thread titles makes you look like a moron (sorry)'' ''because we are on a civilized forum" Well if refraining from insults makes people civilized it was not displayed just then. However, in any case I found how to edit it and done so as a compromise.
Edit-
..Well its either that or by the likes I see its civilized to insult people but oh no! forbid the use of capital letters in the title! the worlds coming to an end look guys capital letters!

3: Now entering an Actual Discussion. Which I appreciate.

"Portugal in WW2 just isn't important in a game"

What defines importance in a period? its size? if the game was just about world war 2 participants and everything else is not 'important' then Paradox wouldn't have added these countries into the game to save Time & Money for countries that did actually have something to do with it.. which is Blatantly not the case at all.

Further more Portugal was a nation almost the size of the Europe so representation might be 'nice' especially since so many Risked their lives and died to medically rescue others (maybe even your ancestors) ..

upload_2016-3-28_20-33-18.png

"Only militaristic thing they did afaik is giving the allies bases on the azores and trading"
Yes your are correct about the Allies bases on the Acores & Madeira, allowing the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) to have exclusive rights to destroy German ships at Portuguese India and also the trading. In the case of Portugal's 'Militaristic thing', we had numerous 'Militaristic things'. Anyone's opinion on the value of lives at this time is irrelevant the point is it happened.

1. One Large Example:
over 10,000 men were sent to battle the Germans in Northern France under the banner of the United Kingdom to maintain its alliance with the United Kingdom as it had for the last six hundred years.

2. One Small Example:
That is but one example we also had varies battles in exchange with the Axis 'un officially' such as our national troops and civilians (police forces, people, militia) having scuffles that were stationed in East Timor Japan tried to invade no DID Invade. Portugal allowed the allies such as Australian and Dutch troops to start of the Pacific War which held retaliation and repercussion's.

"I think paradox cannot bother" Lets leave that decision to Paradox.

I would just like to reiterate that in no way am I posting this just for 'one nation only thing' this is for educational purposes on a time of history that impacted all of us.

No problem friend :) have a good day. I do understand this is not personal or anything. Do you have a suggestion where this can be taken ?

So Portugal should use British Sprites basically(With a little bit of darker skin color)? Is that what you are pointing out?
Even if they were taking part of the war... it doesn't make them more interesting, there were multiple countries in a war that were more important. Finland and the countries in the Baltic for example. Even Brazil had an expeditionary force in WW2, should those get sprites?

Of pure curiosity, are any of those pictures actual from ww2 era ( 1936-1945 ) ?? I think ww2 era reference pictures would help the paradox artists much more.

I'm sorry, but i disagree. 16 years is a lot of time, just think of how were the tanks in 1939 and how they were in 1945, and that is only 6 years.

Perhaps if you could post more photos about ww2 era portugese army, the entire thread would become much more interesting for us and helpful for paradox artists.

This is true, Portugal did nothing of note in actual fighting under their own flag, but since the Alliance between Portugal and England is the oldest in the world to this day a few thousands fought under the British flag.

On a political note Portugal's neutral stance was more worthwhile that their military capability as it kept Spain out of the war.

But in regards to the sprite pack, I can think of more prominent nations to have a individual sprite pack before the Portuguese during this time frame.

Thanks everyone for your feedback i'm taking everything into consideration good or bad

To answer any questions to me I would love for all nations to be included in the game and providing more depth, quality, content as long as their is a market & people buy it I don't see why not. Regardless of who gets what first. So yes I would buy Brazilian unit packs and seeing as 70% of Brazil are direct ancestry to Portugal I would see there be a market. That being said I would buy other nations content too!! ( like Finland & Balkans )

p.s

Yes If Paradox and you guys like i'll be more then happy to post more world war 2 and other images but i'll probably do it somewhere else as to not get everyone doing this:

Portugal can go in the queue of minor states. I think the queue is currently lead by Poland, followed (more or less) by: Spain, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Romania, Brazil, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Belgium, Holland, Canada, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and then finally maybe Portugal. Perhaps a few other South American states could be added to the mix as well.

Your efforts have been noted, please take your place in the queue.

I guess people at Paradox are just as capable of using google as you are.

Your "information" is random, boring and almost completely off topic. Portugal wasn't involved in ww2 other than existing.
