Honestly I had thought the Soviets would have jumped us now, they did in all but one test game I had ... well usually in late '38 maybe the huge number of troops scared them.

No idea. Maybe they will attack later or they abandoned the idea altogether? One way or another, we are as ready as we can be for this campaign. Most players begin their conquests much sooner, so it will be interesting to see how the delay affects things. Not that it will be easily comparable, as this game will be harder than most due to its very nature (AI control, factions etc.) and various bonuses I gave the AI.

oh well, prepare to march south!!!

I dont know much about playing HOI3 in this region so I cant wait for the war to start. I presume the AI will be running the land campaign. What about the naval and air side?

Is the battle plan for China, the China Pacification Campaign Nationalist ?

This seems ambitious compared to the historical invasion. Best of luck. :D

I couldnt see any others apart from the Bolshevik big kettle which was there in the event of Soviet agression which I presume is unlikely.

The fleets and the airwings are manually controlled. It's generally not a good idea to automate them, because the AI-player communication is really poor. The Land AI is arguably the best and the orders system was designed with land units in mind, so it's not that bad if you know how to use it. Not as good as the player, of course, but this AAR isn't meant to be unchallenging for the players ;)

The skirmishes with the Soviets CAN happen in HPP, but it's not always the case. There is also the option to escalate the conflict, so it's best to guard the MAN-SOV border, especially when we consider the fact that logistical situation in China is usually difficult, so it's unwise to throw everything at once.

IIRC Surt said that he expects China to succumb in 6-12 months. It's possible, but ambitious. It will be harder in this AAR because of the nature of the gameplay, AI control and various bonuses and changes I gave/made to the AI. Still, IRL the Japanese claimed that China would be conquered in 3 months, so I guess that they were even more ambitious than my generals. The historical campaign didn't end well, though ;).

The Chinese pacification plan only planned for 7 Homengun but it looks like we got nearly 12, leaving 4 including the cav a gar homengun against the Soviets will see us take the field with around 10 Homengun and the Mar Gundan which should give us a slight chance to defeat the Chinese unless the Modding is more heavy than I hope!!!

12 months should see the Nationalists defeated, the rest will take longer.

That is if we can manage to keep Yunnan and Gunaxi out for the time being. On the other hand, we might decided to snatch them first? ;-)

Surt, those corps still only have 2x Inf divisions, correct? That does seem like too little somehow... On the other hand, may be it's just because I am accustomed to divisions of 3 to 4 brigades :-/

The latest report showed we only needed 0.3% more on GuangXi which is hopefully only 5 more days :) Yunnan on the other hand is a lost cause for the moment ...

With AI control, more divs is usually better than fewer that can't cover the front. Smaller divisions uses less supplies, can cover more ground and as all (or nearly) have support brigades they are rather though. You might not want to go up against a tiger division with them but nearly everything else goes.

Yeah, the AI tends to work better when it has enough divs to cover the frontline. However, this depends heavily on the theatre in question. As a rule of thumb, more brigades in a division means that the div is more powerful, so when front coverage is not a problem, it's good to make larger divs. Nothing is preventing us from having both big and small divs, though.
