You can never have too much money right? Well you can, when you look at the mercenary tab only to find all mercenaries are hired all of the time, you know there is too much money. One province counts in empires can have 13000 gold each late game. I propose that money be shared evenly between sons on inheritance and that unlanded characters should lose 50% of their gold on their death.

That's one of the reasons I wanted to institute a monetary system in a suggestion I made a few days ago. Inheritance tax though I wouldn't agree on. I would agree to dowries, and percentages of money to unlanded sons. Including the practice of allowances. And of course that'd probably be enough do cause unrest, If the first born doesn't pay his liege might be obligated, by realm law to extract the sums or land. And if he is independent, get him an adventure event with areal chance.
Cheers, Dan

problem is that unlanded characters do not take money out of circulation because they do not spend money, the 50% loss of money on succession was not to repersent some sort of fictional inheritance tax it was to represent the cost of living for those characters

Cost of living has to mean something. I mean they remain in court, that would eat away a little at a time, because of hospitality rules. That expense you mentioned seems more the type of post renaissance excess. Medieval times you had to have money usually by rents, to buy the destrier armor ans sword. otherwise you failed your liege. you can have that provided by charity, awkward... or mercenary, or family stipend. but there were few couch potatoes then. Easily changed. Buy-expensive- land slot somewhere, feel the need go conquer something, and, make them see the light. join the church. Unlanded rich nobles if they didnt do important work (commander, spy, diplomat, or whatever,) they went to the church. and so did the money. Very few dandies back then. except on the caliphate, and that's decadence correctible with a few tweaks.. Other ideas, Make them build a great work! I'm not criticizing, I agree with the concept, just don't agree with they proposal to handle it. Currency devaluation, hoarding, and make the products from the market worth something -produce lumber, pay gold to carpenter, shipwright, produce ship crew it then you have galleys. want to have heavy cavalry breed horses,or buy, both expensive. pay for salt, etc want armor for your retainers, pay for mining and the smith. that money would disappear in the void of landless commoners. I do agree with the problem though, just don't think a flat tax is...fun, I know it wasn't meant as tax, I apologize for characterizing as so except I like the concept not the execution.
Cheers,
Dan

A landless character is not literally a vagabond living in the court of the a count. Rather, "landess" means any character below baron tier, which would include knights banneret, country gentlemen, baronets, and the like. However, there is too much money in the system. Some of that could be solved by preventing landed characters from inheriting money from heirless courtiers, with that money disappearing from the game.
