I suppose this is already mentioned somewhere, but because the search option is down I can't check.

If one has made all possible investments nearing the end of the game inflation will go skyhigh.

What do you guys think of this and can it be avoided other than by just creating hugh armies for high maintenance?

Indeed it is not very important in that situation, it is just a bit annoying that you get inflation without being able to avoid it in a normal manner.

It is kind of strange how the tech tree suddenly stops, even if you are at full innovativeness...

"My lord, we have come up with a way to make rifled weaponry, which would be much more accurate than our current muskets!"

"NO CHANGE!"

"But sir, your innovativeness is at 7"

"I am sick of all these new ideas, you may not invent any new land technologies!"

"But sir..."

"SILENCE!"

It would be nice if they could add something like the Future Tech that Civ 2 has, but that probably would not work until EU3.

I disagree with this, it would be very ahistorical and kinda boring as well if you sit with tanks against AIs little spears. Thats what I dont like with Civ and EU2 isn't a Civilization type of game, and should not be made one either IMO

It would be good if, after land/naval 60 and infra/trade 10, you could get levels ahead by adding values to the current morale/efficiency/etc...

Just to clarify my idea, suppose you are at infra 10. After that, you could get like a bonus of 3% for each advanced level. Just an example.

That was more or less what I had in mind with my Civ2 reference as well.

i think that adding 5 more levels to land and naval and 1 more level to infra and trade would prevent anyone from ever maxing out all of the techs. like others already said, just add a slight bonus to existing armies/production/trade for each level

Good idea, but I don't think it will prevent one to maximize the techs... you can easily max the techs by around 1760 playing as France! Conquer your cores, stay peacefull, colonize goldmines and build tons of manufactories... and then, voilà, by early 1800's you have land 65, naval 65, trade 11 and infra 11!:D

to avoid mass inflation one could simply increase the cost of the highest tech in each category to huge numbers so they realisticlly cant all be reached that way if you cant ever max all of em you will always have soemthing to invest in

ok, anibal, you jackass :^)

make it 10 more levels of military and 2 more of trade and infra :^)

i think there is more to be gained in the last few years than just avoiding inflation. if you are the first to reach 60, your armies can only get WORSE relative to the rest of the world.

But they should get larger and larger due to massive cash influx, thus maintaining advantage on the battle field.

Land warfare was quite revolutionarized after the French revolution

A better solution would be to make infra and trade more expensive to achieve ahead of time.I can get those easily maxed out in the early 1700s
