This is starting to get a bit annoying. My Treasury slider is set to a negative number and STILL I get inflation. How can the country get inflation if no new goldcoins are being produced?

and how do I lower inflation?

(still playing as Sweden. ;))

Unless your treasury slider is set to zero you are still withdrawing money from your monthly receipts. It's just that your expenses are higher than the income you are withdrawing.:)

As others said anything but zero produces inflation. Additionally IIRC inflation rate of your neighbours also affects yours.

If you are still learning EUII don't worry about inflation. The AI inflation is tied pretty tightly to yours, so the AI is hurt just as much as you are. having inflation go up by (say) 1% every 5 years isn't really going to hurt you. check your army maintenance and see if you're over the supportable limit. If you are you need to reduce your army size or increase the supportable limit. A cheap way to increase the supportable limit is to get merchant into COTs that trade grain. Danzig/Kurland (depending on version) is good for this.

Well that explained quite all of why I suffered from inflation. :)

thanks for the help. I was playing a multiplayer game with a friend, he as England, and I as Sweden, and his inflation as always lower than mine although he had more armies and kept no control over his sliders. got me quite concerned, but realise now after reading other postings as well that I had really LOW inflation. :) Feels great. :D
