Lo folks in my recent persia game i've realised how bad the game is at reducing the amount of money in circulation, as soon as I stabilised the silk road me and all my vassals have so much money that for an example keeping the council on council support by buying favours has become a viable strategy becuase if I don't someone else will buy them all making it impossible for me to get them to do anything.
So I dove in and looked at how much money the vassals have and they have litterally tens of thousands in wealth and since they have built everything nothing to spend it on.
That's when I realised that there are relativly few things that actually destroy money in game, most things like giving gifts and buyign favours and so on only shuffles it around. Which granted is realistic but doesn't work so well in a game where there's a limited number of things money can buy for you.

Maybe the Silk Road and others like ti should reduce the income of the non-city holdings in the province - every merchant with a dream of making big bucks heads to the Road for trading opportunities etc ?

I just checked the Silk Road file and found this code at the start -

Code:
    wealth = 100            # Total base wealth of silk route

    modifier = {            # How the trade route modifies the provinces it passes
        castle_tax_modifier = 0.15
        city_tax_modifier = 0.15
        temple_tax_modifier = 0.15
        trade_route_value = 1
    }

Maybe the value for City could be increased, the value for Temple greatly reduced (more donations only ?) while the Castle value greatly reduced into a penalty (eg -0.15). This would over time turn the Silk Road region into a rich yet troop poor area, maybe not such a good when you';re surrounded by Nomads . . . ?

I went with lowering them all and instead giving them a slight tech bonus (representing the ideas travelling along the road), and alos did the same on the strade posts. That should mean that not only does the silk road provinces have less money but also more stuff they need to use it on.

But truth be told some kind of inflation mechanic would be nice meaning the price of things go up when you have more money/income (some things do but mainly event things and non moneysink costs like gifts).

Again a great way to lose your own money but there's so much wealth infused into the realm that it's becomming problematic for other reasons. Like I said for an example all my councillors are always doing council support for someone. The problem is if I do the same thing I infuse even more money into their already inflated economies.

Also either garden or tower can fire one per character lifetime which with buiness ideas aren't all that long meanign it probably won't even fire once per character lifetime.
