Yes but Im pretty sure its not applied to combat rolls..it's most visible with the likes of PLC 63% Cav Comb Abillity - not getting the same results as before. Just wasn't sure if its only me as I dont have all the DLC's

I think it’s applied to combat though.
EDIT: I mean, if you hover over a unit you don’t see their discipline either. Is that not applied either? I know you can see it in the main battle screen, but that’s just representative, not each unit’s discipline.

What makes you think so? Up till now Inf, Art, and Cav combat ab was shown in combat window. It is different from morale or disc because it applies only to specific unit type.
Here it is in 1.29.6
Paradox havent mention removing it from the battle UI. And like I said, when I tested it in battles where it effects should be easy visible, it seems like it is NOT WORKING

I think you’re jumping the gun a bit. It might not be working but we aren’t sure yet. I can’t say it is working, but can’t say it isn’t.

I just tested it with 2 costom nations.
In a tech32 100 infantry vs 100infantry battle where one side had 20% combat ability, they won quite clearly. So it seems to still impact the battle. #UI Bug ?

Now I'm sure Inf Combat ability, or any other unit specific ability is NOT WORKING.

It is really hard to do any proper testing on the matter, as stated above it could have been UI bug.

So I was trying to figure out an experiment to check that. Doing manual calculations is doable but way too hard for me...

And then It came to me...allies. When in combat with allies only the leader's country bonuses are applied. So all the units get the same country speciffic bonuses like morale and disc. So particular units of the opposite side should receive exactly the same damage (unless faced by cav rather than inf) if none of my units have any Comb Ability +

So I tried Denmark. Sweden as PU minor, they have 20% ICA...make them loyal and tell them to attach to my army...then move to Gonge and wait till mid of march for rebels from gotland to relocate...and voila you have a battle where part of enemy forces is engaged by Demnark Regiments, and part by Sweden Regiments.

Results:

1.29.6 Regiments fighting Swedes sustain slightly more casualties

1.30.3 All enemy regiments have the same casualties

Conclusion : Unit Combat Abilities BUGGED.

Well it goes against magni_ test, which seems a lot clearer as there are no other parameters.

So, you do NOT have any CA. You are relying on Sweden's CA to apply to your units?

Wouldn't it be possible to just give yourself something crazy, like 100% ICA, and see the results? It should make other modifiers almost irrelevant. Though magni_'s test does already seem plenty compelling as evidence.

How many tests did you run? Not saying you aren't right, just wondering about the methodology more.

Anyways, here I was thinking that Combat Ability got stealth buffed this patch. This because I noticed that I was winning way too many offensive fights in the mountains with my only combat modifier being the first Quality idea. The most absurd was when Austria tried to relieve a siege in the mountains.

I just did a quick test. I gave Bohemia 1000% infantry combat ability and sent 12k infantry with no general to attack one of serbia's stacks that had 7k inf, 6k cav and 9k arty.

Serbia's stack hit 0 morale instantly and most of their frontline died instantly as well. Looks like its just a UI bug where the combat ability isnt displayed when you mouse over the unit anymore.

How did you add 1000 ICA? Is it possible that by doing so you triggered it on??
