Infamy Compete Chance Penalties Negated by joining Trade Leagues?
I'm playing as Brunswick and I got a trade CB against Haunsa when they embargoed me (I started the game in their trade league). So I made use of the Trade CB and declared war against Haunsa, with my main goal being to take Bremen (an ally of Haunsa) to give my country access to the sea.
Before signing a "white peace" with Haunsa (the alliance leader), I fully annexed both Bremen and Mandenburg and thus recieved a total of 16 infamy points.
After the war I went to the CoT page in the ledger to find that my compete chances ranged from about 15% to 20% in every CoT because of my high infamy (but the cost of sending merchants had dropped considerably, thanks to the fact that I now had a coastal province -even though it wasn't a core).
Then just a couple a weeks after the end of the war with Haunsa, I notice that I had a "very likely" chance to join their trade league again; so I did. I went to the CoT page of the ledger and noticed that my compete chances had improved from 15% to 20%, to 55% to 65%. My infamy was no longer effecting my compete chance at all! Plus I was recieving the "shrewd commerce practices" benefit because it was one of Haunsa's national ideas.
It seems way too easy to get lots of infamy and not have your trading suffer as a result. My compete chances are on average up about 40% to 45% in one day; and obviously this makes a HUGE difference to trading income. Is there some sort of feature which balances this out? Previously if your infamy was high, but not over the limit, one of the most severe effects of this was that your trade income would almost disapear, until your BB was reduced. Joining Trade Leagues seems to get around this too easily. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance
