I have been reading this guide in the wiki and am considering using it while playing as SOV's. My Q is this, since it is recommending using a ratio of 3 milita/2 inf, my units then need to be in groups of 5 correct? 5,10,15 and so forth right?
Has anyone used this philosophy to great success?

Never used that. I usually go with 9 when dealing with infantry. 6 when dealing with Armor, and 12 when you have to face huge armies and you have got plenty of field marshals:p

But seriously, as the SU you need to get rid of your militia and replace with infantry because got IC and Manpower plenty.

As the Soviets, I used armies of 12, with either 9inf/3mil (where I expecteed heavy attack) or 6-6 for the provinces were terrain favored me... This gives you way more units and I managed not to get pushed one step back from the beginning of Barbarossa, just streamroll Germany (After Barbarossa started, I also focused more on tanks cause then I got the better techs etc)

all these recommendations under the question. BWA conception is very arguable. There are too many factors to consider in fact.

I would recommend you just use common sense.
Militia has three uses - diversions, defence of difficult terrain, and cannon fodder. So, use it with any ration.

I often use stacks 3inf+6mil.
You could also finding useful in defence 1arm+2mil. Such armor could defend so long due too cannon fodder and +15% combined bonus.

As SU you might as well try using LOADS of militia. I tried it once and I had something like 800 militia divisions when the germans attacked. I tend to use ~95% INF and the rest ARM though.
