Beyond the Home Islands
Of all the arms of the US armed forces taking part in the Pacific War, the US Navy must be credited with the most brilliant and forethoughtful planning, enabling it to launch a stunning series of amphibious invasions with minimum delays in between. Before “Backdrop” had even begun, the plans for the follow-up invasion of Japan’s mainland possessions were complete and in motion, ships loaded with fuel and spares for the landing ships had been dispatched and all necessary preparations under way. As a result, a mere ten days after the fall of Hiroshima and the destruction of the last Imperial Army forces on the main island of Honshu, Operation Chromite, the invasion of Korea was launched. From Hiroshima, the new base of the Pacific Fleet, Ridgeway’s Marine Divisions were embarked for a dual amphibious invasion; under overall command of Patton’s Fourth Army, the island of Cheju-do was invaded and occupied without much effort on April 8th. The main effort, however, was on behalf of MacArthur and Second Army; on the same day as the Cheju-Do invasion, five Marine divisions landed at Pusan and quickly captured the city despite furious but outmatched Japanese resistance. During the following days, Second Army as a whole was ferried over and Army Headquarters moved to Pusan.
Still, the Navy was not done. Showing off an incredible capacity for pre-planning and efficient management of it’s vast but still limited resources, even as MacArthur’s forces began their advance up the peninsula, preparations were already well under way for yet another amphibious operation; the invasion of Formosa by General Stillwell and his Sixth Army.

So how is Roosevelt going to rebuild east Asia? Will there be a Republic of Korea, and a return of Taiwan to China, or are there more... sinister... forces at work? A permanent US empire perhaps, to carry the White Man's Burden into Asia?

Anyway, I really see where Draco gets it from, Prufrock! But this FDR is a bastard. All politicians are weasels, but anyone this bad would've screwed up by now. But that is why AAR's and other AH are such fun: the surrealness.
