Just found this detailed gem from www-part 2 and wanted to share it with you. It contains tons of infos concerning industrial build up and planning. Enjoy!

I´m really concerned about the possibility of France and UK to build masses of industrie in the colonies. Helping Canada, Southafrica or Australia is fine, but transforming Algeria or Egypt into a industrial power house?
The number of availabel factory slots is limited by the local population. That means, as seen in World War Wednesday, that those colonies could support 1 factory. Egypt, which was technicly independant by 1936 but still under heavy influence of the UK which still controlled the suez channel, may support 4 factories in alexandria, because the population is centered around the nil, but those regions that would be out of axis reach only hold 1 factory at max.I´m really concerned about the possibility of France and UK to build masses of industrie in the colonies. Slots are ultimately limited by the population. Sometimes by increasing the infrastructure you can support more slots of course, but that wont be the case with those thinly populated colonies for sure. That what actually unlocks slots aside from that are the national focuses for "Industrial Effort" and "Military Effort", but only in pre-defined states.Industrial technology have something to do with factory slots but I don't know how. The only advantage of concentrated industry is the extra slots but I don't know then you can use these slots.

It did increase industrial output more disperenced industry but that have been changed to give more slots (maybe because the output advantage is overpowered), but I don't know then you get these extra slots. I guess it could be capital only because I did see Sweden have alot of factories in its capital but then it do have a decent population in that state.
You can see it in the Wednesday stream about Finland.Do you have a source on this? Have I missed something?
Thats why we said that alexandria and cairo are exceptions to that. All others are basicly 1 factory states with some that have up to 6 factory states. You also need to take into acount, that the UK is rather limited in their factory space on mainland UK and needs to build quiet some docks to protect their trade routes, which are extremely important since resources from colonies need to be shipped to mainland UK in order to be useable and can be intercepted by submarines or convoy raiders. If germany takes alot of coast by occupying northern france for example, they could even consider building an propper surface fleet, while crippling your ship production by intercepting said resource deliveries.About the number of factories in Egypt, it is actually way more then 1. 10 for Alexandria and Cairo. 8 for the province south of that. All together I count 38 slots in 1936 (WWW part 1).

Here you go.You can see it in the Wednesday stream about Finland.
i wouldnt even say that germany should take dispersed industry, since if they arent beating the UK and/or soviet union by 1943 its pretty much over for them anyway if the US joins the allies. I rather produce more fighters to protect my factories than having them getting bombed to rubble less efficient.Concentreted industry is must have for small cautries simply to allow them to get more slots as they are more limited in buildup becous of smaller number of states, population and in some cases infrastucture.
As for dispersed industry in single player i can only think about Germany, in multiplayer it can be much more useful if you know that your enemy is going for strategic bombardment (doctrine resarch, model resarch, bomber production)
It would depend, in my opinion. If your population e.g. can't support more then 8 factories, there is not much sense, in raising the cap to 12.Concentreted industry is must have for small cautries simply to allow them to get more slots as they are more limited in buildup becous of smaller number of states, population and in some cases infrastucture.
