Okay, I figured I'd play my first game historically as Germany. Built up technology (to incredible amounts), stockpiled a good number of rubber, oil, etc. and did all those sorts of things.

Wasn't until 1938 that I concentrated at all on my military.

I go through all of the events historically, and I'm a few months away from invading Poland. I currently have my technology to very impessive levels (I can build 'Panther' divisions), however my military seems to be rather small (7 Pz Div, 5 Mech, 3 Mot, 4 LRE, 2 SRI, 4 Dive Bs, 2 Tact Bs, and the same navy and ~36 Inf divs I started with).

I'm assuming that I ought to spend more time building my units next time, rather than focus on research? Though I have to admit I did neglect industry and electronics a bit, rocket, nuclear and naval research completely to get to the point I'm at.

Any suggestions on a good balance for industry?

I actually almost have all the work on the first Heavy Tank model done, and it's May 1939. :D

I'd post a screenshot but I have no where to upload it to so I can link it to here and show ya.

Basically it's the Advanced Medium Tank 70mm+. I skipped the Improved model of the Medium Tank because I wanted to get the 80mm+ gun for it, but I guess I won't be needing it after all. :p

Like I told you though, my military is rather small, and I have hardly any research in about half the fields (focused a lot on infantry-armor-air).

It actually is possible. To get to a Panther tank, Germany needs to research four armour doctrines, plus advanced medium tank prototype tests & then the tank itself (50mm+ or 70mm+). Presuming that the German player also researches the 50mm+ tank gun in time (which is possible), it becomes possible to build a Panther tank as of September 1st, 1938, at the earliest.
