So, I am indoctrinating some primitives, and I even got two events for them changing ethos to the ones my government has.

If I check the POP's individually I see exactly two POP's that have my ethos, the rest are what they were before.

So if I were to enlighten them right now, would they be my ethos, or still the majority of their POP's ethos?
Or do I have to wait for them to keep adopting my ethos until the majority think my way?

Greetings!

I believe the pop would retain there present ethos. That said deferring pop ethos is not real problem anymore. Pops won't be crippling unhappy without a crippling unhappy faction to join. Even then a few armies in garrison will handle any unrest. Governors, a tradition and a few other effects can also counteract unrest.

I don't want to invade them I want to enlighten them. The whole point of my indoctrination is to make their empire my ethos.
That's why I asked if their government will be my ethos after I enlightened them. Since two ethos-change events poped up, but only two of their POP's are my ethos.

As far as i understand it the enlightenment project itself will have no effect on ethos. The related events will modify some pops but usually not all.

I was also trying to illustrate that a divergent ethos is a minor consideration. A divergent ethos will have zero impact on the population's performance without a faction to support that ethos. Pop ethos modifiers have been removed, happiness penalties/bonus from policies have been bundled into the faction system, and without faction membership base happiness is default 50%.

The only thing a divergent ethos pop might cause is a new faction. Even then he new faction would need to be diametrically apposed to the empire polices to be a real issue.
