Individual IP DLC?

If anyone has played Rocket League you'd know that they have made deals with specific IP holders to make DLC themes for well known things like back to the future, batman etc.

Do you think well ever get specific IP themed DLC in Stellaris? I know it's never been done before but Stellaris itself is a departure from other historical titles where this would make less sense.

I'd certainly love to see them work out deals with IP holders to get well known DLC packs from star wars/ star trek etc. I think it'd really help modders out also. I guess it comes down to how expensive it would be for PDS and if they wanted to deal with any of the hoops that would have to be jumped through to make it happen.

I think that's not a good idea. There's nothing that a paid pack could offer that a mod can't, and I'd be concerned that if they're paying Disney X dollars for a paid Star Wars DLC there could be pressure to remove the free mods using Disney's IP.

Leave this to the modders, I don't need cross marketing in my GSG.

Most likely never going to happen, but unofficial mods will go to town on this.

I would rather they spent that money on original contents. That is what the modding community is for.

Good God I hope not. The in-jokes I've seen were mostly some in-depth sci-fi stuff, but IP DLC would just be pandering to the lowest common denominator in the worst way. Imagine immersing yourself in your own little story with unique races, just to be bombarded with "that's no small moon" and "I'm giving her all she's got, captain" lines along with dozens of others.

Nope, nope. That would be a huge can of worms, and generally not worth the price various IP-holders would demand (and in all likelihood, wouldn't be just cash. Exclusivity and marketing nonsense, as well as 'input' on the game's direction).

Leave it to modders and disavow.

Way too expensive. I'd much rather Paradox spend their time/money on other DLC.

For CK2 there's excellent mods for fantasy universes like Game of Thrones, Warhammer, and Elder Scrolls.

If Stellaris turns out as popular as I think it will be, we're going to have an avalanche of mods.
