So, when the CSA starts/rebels are you able to:
a) switch from playing the USA to the CSA
b) refuse to join the CSA but play as an independent state (florida, virginia, georgia) alongside the CSA agaisnt the USA

And if not, could someone make a mod for it.

answer to a : save, start a new game as CSA, then load up the saved game and you will then play as the CSA in the original game.

answer to b : wouldnt see why you would want to, because playing as a state doesnt seem like you would get very far. none of the souther states have a diverse enough resource base to be able to go it alone. But, one confederate state did actually seceed from the CSA, so it has a somewhat historical base, but i doubt there wont any way other than having a rebel band in one state declare independence from the CSA, and then you could use the method in i gave in a to play as that nation.

yep, but you could also argue it to be hypothecical because they were against secession from the Union.

But the states had the right to secede, on the other hand when you play the Union it would be somewhat unlogical to force that secession... it's not like creating a vassal - EU2 wise,

Theoreticaly spoken it was possible that states seceded and stayed apart from both csa and the usa.

But it should never be an option because they were united in the war for states rights and economical reasons. So there's no argument for seceding and not joining the confederacy...

Thats too bad you cant choose to switch to the CSA from the USA at the onset of the Civil War without having to open the save file again.

I mean, there are some of us I'm sure who saw the CSA as the true American nation.

Georgia should almost certainly have a chance to become its own country. Several times during the war the Georgia governer, a huge states-rightest, threatened or thought about leaving the CSA because of the lack of control he thought the states had.

no, west virginia never orginially joined the CSA, it split apart and joined the union, causing for a new state to be formed out of the large state of virginia.

but, georgia actually left the confederacy late in the war over political issues, but it had little effect since the entire confederacy was soon defeated and brought back into the union.

very true, the entire idea of the confederacy was that the states were more powerful than the national government, but this was very untrue, seeing as the conferderate government had much of the control of the army, which was obviously the key to the confederacy's survival.

I'm not sure but shouldn't an elaborate event allow the player to switch nations without having to save, quit and reload? Using "IF"-booleans in a creative way should allow this imho

(ex. if player chooses "A" -USA-, then..../if player chooses "B" -CSA-, then...)

I've had this in my mind since EU2 but never tried it since I'm no good with coding events. Maybe I should try it (or someone else should try it)
