I recongnized that when the Netherlands declare their indenpendence and therefore ask some nations for the alliances that those alliances don´t work for the independence war itself.
In my recent game i´m playing as Spain and of course one of my rivals is France. When the Netherlands declared their independence from France Austria and me became allies of the Netherlands. However we were not involved during the independence war what I think does not make that much sense.
Of course, standing on their own, th Netherlands had no chance against a mighty france. In the end they lost most of their land and were forced to cancel the alliances with me and Austria. Kind of disappointing result in my oppinion.
