Well, simply put.. after a while of playing as any nation, my population will all of a sudden start paying an amazing amount of taxes to me, which I am fairly sure should not happen. I believe in the game below, I had about a monthly +5 balance before the spike.

victoria.jpg

[[ oh and ignore the tariff, I just loaded the game for the screen shot, so it did not calculate that yet ]]

As you can see, the difference in income is insane.. As far as I know, it continues to do that until you reload the save file. I have no idea what is causing this problem.

Am I doing something wrong with my economy(I thought I was doing fine..)? or is this a bug? I am confident that I have been patched fully and I do not recall any install problems.

The screen shot above was from a VIP game, but the same problem happened during my 1.4 game as Persia(before I installed VIP).

Any information would be great, I have been digging through topics, guides, and any relevant sites trying to figure out why this is happening(maybe I am using the wrong terms?). I am going to try reinstalling, if no one is able to give me an answer.

Anyway, thanks for any help.

It's a bug. All prices on the WM goes up to maximum for a while.

Ah, I had suspected something like that was so. In my persia game, I also noticed the market prices jumped, but the latter time I did not seem to notice. Is there any fix/patch or way to prevent this from happening? or do I have to just reload from the last auto save... but that can be bothersome.

I haven't heard of a fix for it, so you'll have to reload, or give away the money if you feel guilty about your "ill-gotten gains". :D

Not at the moment. I don't think Paradox will release a new patch for Vicky since they now allow people to access the source-code (under conditions), and it doesn't seem like a user-made mod can fix it. I think you have to reload the autosave.

It is not that I feel bad about taking the money, but it kind of devalues the work required to get to the situation that your nation is in and well, I get bored after that. It is quiet unrewarding..

I see. So, a patch or fix is unlikely. Does this problem only happen to certain computers or is this a problem for everyone? Is this recent to the current versions or has this happened for a while?

And thank you both for the help.

I've actually never seen it on my system.

I'm not sure when the bug appeared, but it seems to happen to everyone and not certain computers. I've never experienced it myself though.

hm.. thats odd. I have had it happen in two different games. Once I reloaded and it happened again shortly after.

Is there something triggering this to happen in the game? I do not see why some games are spared and others not.

I am also quiet disappointed to hear that they will not be providing a fix to such a vital problem. At the very least, if they are not willing to do it themselves, they should allow others to do it for the community.

I think you may just have been extremely unlucky. If this had happened so often to a majority of players there would have been many more posts about it instead of just the occasional ones like yours.
Maybe you should try re-installing the game; remove it, defragment your hard-drive then install it again. I can't promise anything, but it may help.

I see.. well, that will be my next step if it occurs again. Anyway, thanks again.

Well, I've never seen it happen. I actually hadn't even heard about the problem existing. It seems to be pretty rare.

Besides, what exactly is so game-breaking about increased income? :p

Probably about the same as what's game-breaking about F12+money. :p ;)
