I see and understand your point, but i still think the player should get more freedom (also to act illegal) and be punished for it to balance it out.
If you want to be married to your sister, just seduce her and say that you are married. No one is stopping you.
From the point of view of everyone else in Christendom, you are merely claiming to be married to her rather than actually being so, so, while the character would have the moral satisfaction of thinking himself married, he would get no benefits from it when interacting with anyone else, and any children from the union would be treated as illegitimate by society. Conveniently, when you decide to roleplay as being married to your sister while not being from a religion that allows it, this is precisely what happens. I don't see the difficulty.
