Weather seems to change very slowly, if ever. I was getting ready to make the Danzig or war decision and I thought to myself "Self, you had best check the weather. Remember how last game it rained for the entire invasion." After patting myself on the back for being so clever, I pulled up the weather map. And wouldn't you know it, it's raining over Poland.

"Everything is on hold" I screamed at my generals. "We're gonna wait until it stops raining!" ...Anyone who has ever turned on the weather overlay and let time run knows where this is going.

It rained, snowed or stormed in Poland from September 1939 until may game crashed in 1942. The edge of the weather system did not move one province.

So I reloaded and tried again. Same result. So I started a new game. It was raining in 1936, and it was still raining in 1938.

I zoomed out. Every -single- ocean square had a cloud icon on it.

I switched all research towards building up my "Ark" practical.

Good choice with the Ark. Takes a helluva long while to research, but it's worth it.

In every battle I have done I always forget to switch and look at the weather, its just to much of a PITA. I probably should start doing it, but its an eye sore to look at all the crap listed for each province

With all that spill from the german energy production it's no wonder that global warming goes rampant.

In my 36 game I've cranked up the battleship production. Cus if it keeps raining like this I'll be able to put Bismarcks guns on the Kreml before '45.

Seriously though, the weather system is messed up big-time. So is the temperature system. I posted a thread about this called "Mild winter temperature", where I noted the fact that winter temperatures are extremely mild. It's like Paradox based them off the last 10 years.

I think there is less outcry about weather because a lot of people are from the US. They're used to F, so when they see 6C they see nothing wrong. Even though that's in Rome. In July.

My first thought about "improving" the game (speed) was deleting the weather alltogether. DOes anybody know how to do this?

The world is huge (has hundreds of thousands of provinces) and those cute little basic functions calling for a weather change every hour probably take away a lot of time that could be spend better in rendering some anti-aliased info-boxes...

I had the exact same problem. After a few weeks, I just shrugged and steamrolled Poland in less than two weeks. Guess weather considerations are not always that important

My solution is to never ever check the weather tab.

Sometimes my troops seem to move slower than other times, but I've never seen a single rain cloud.

I did a back-of-the-envelope estimate in another thread and found that the weather computations take something like 1 minute of processor time for every year of game time. So, getting rid of it will not speed your game up.

That wouldnt make for realistic gameplay, would it? And, it would give Germany a vast early advantage in the first winter (now summer) of the war.

If you want the Ark as Germany, you might want to start looking in Tibet (Nepal?) for a certain medallion, and then go to Egypt to dig for it.

Be aware that a certain American spy who is a Doctor of Archeology might interfere with your research!

And Siberia is only circa -19C in December. IRL typically in December it was around -40C to -50C.

Explain how consistently wet weather is more realistic than consistently clear weather please...?
