Ordered CK and Vicky last summer.. took 6-7 days, I forget. Others said it took 4..so weekends, time of day ordering and such likely came into play.
Being these are pre-orders.. I would imagine that they'd all be 4-5 days.. based on US location... IF they come from Sweden.
You also have the possibility that they will be bulk dropped to a fulfillment house here in the states prior to the release date. Since payment was made in US Dollars, a change since last summer, this might mean something.
IIRC i remember seening a post by Fredrick II saying that they would ship directly from the CD producer, but i can't find that post anywhere. Is the CD producer in the US ?
Slightly off topic but related to the Amazon pre-order issue.
On Amazon they have the "maker" of HOI2 listed as Atari. Is paradox a subsidiary or Atari? Or Atari the licensed distributor in North America for HOI2? Whats the deal with that?
Also, good for people to know about Amazon shipping problems. Its happened to me with them for DVDs as well. I'll definitely be buying off the shelf.

I think Atari's the distributer, cause Atari doesn't own Paradox. Amazon and other stores tend to give credit to the distributer for making the game, for some reason...

Does anyone know how changing from StrategyFirst to Atari will affect HoI2 distribution? Apparently Atari distributes to BestBuy (for which I have a Christmas gift certificate), but I see no mention of the title anywhere on the bestbuy.com website...Hopefuly it won't be a task finding HoI2 in stores...

I certainly hope those of us who pre-ordered direct from Paradox don't have to sit here for several days while those who walk to EBWorld on Jan 4 are playing with their copies.

Yeah. It ends up being more expensive and having to wait longer by ordering through Paradox. Obviously, they dont want to become a major vendor for their sames. If they did want to become a major vendor, they would have a better price and insure their direct orders can receive it in the mail before the stores get it. This is something Lucas Arts has done well.

I specifically ordered it from Paradox to reward those guys with a larger share of the money. I suspect that if you order it from their site they will receive about $30 of the $39.95 purchase price. If you buy it from a retailer for $39.95 then Paradox will receive at most about $10 and sometimes as low as a mere $5. I am happy to do this because I think Paradox makes wonderful games and I want to reward them. I will continue to purchase in this manner as long as I receive the game in the mail within about 7 days of the street date. Anything longer than this would be unacceptable to me.
Everquest had a system once to ship expansion packs based on what you paid for shipping... Ground Delivery was shipped first, followed by 2-day air and then next day air. Everything arrived at exactly the same time. Some of us just "volunteered" to pay extra. The result was that SOE had to refund massive amounts of shipping due to the amazingly bad distribution system. After this experience I refuse to ever pay next day air again for a game.
