@Zeldar155: The people of Norway will now regain the freedoms they have been denied for so many years.
@salidas16: The Russian capital is in Moscow, so taking St Petersburg will only be a symbolic gesture.
@Asalto: Indeed, invading Scandinavia now pries wide open all of Northern Europe to the allied forces.
@Karaiskandar: And avenge the British will, not only in Scandinavia, but in other areas of the globe as well.
@Zhuge Liang: although I could easily blitz through Sweden and into Finland, I am actually going to hold back allied troops along the border. Sweden has something like 90 to 100 divisions in its army, but they are all fighting far away in Asia right now, so I am going to let them return to their homeland so I can have an entertaining ground war in Scandinavia. Hope that isn't too unrealistic but I want to face more than snow and caribou in Scandinavia.
@Eams: Jozef Terboven is still the Norweigan HoS, with Vidkun Quisling as HoG. Also, I have already taken care of the swastikas in the last post. I didn't think they were large enough to be recognizable, but I have now edited them out.
@SovietAmerika: Scandinavia will be more of a secondary front for when the fighting eventually moves into Germany itself. The main front for that battle will be on the main frontline, currently in northern France.
@CylonAndrew: Those soldiers are just the beginning. I can still bring in more reinforcements from places like South America, Canada, Australia, and South Africa.
@Bismarck1899: I do not use a single, massive graphics pack, but rather a combination of multiple graphics mods, sprites, and icons. You should be able to find most of them in the modding section of the HOI2 forums.
@everyone: thanks for the comments!
In China, Republican Chinese forces are being hammered in Xinjiang by a massive, enemy counteroffensive. Hundreds of Thousands of Qing soldiers, which had escaped northeastern China through Russian territory, are now moving back into the frontlines here, supported by thousands of Russian troops, and luanching a huge counterattack against advancing allied forces. Republican units are forced to turn tail and run back towards the east, unable to stop this offensive.
To the east however, the situation is far more positive. Republican armoured units are beginning to penetrate deep into western Manchuria, paving the way for American units to move in behind them. With US forces in eastern Siberia located to the north and east, both fronts are beginning to move closer together for an eventual linkup.
Back in India, Russian forces are expanding their offensive, taking control of most of Kashmir. Allied troops attempt another counterattack, this time at Srinigar. The attack starts off very well, but eventually falls short due to massive Russian reinforcements that arrive soon after.
In the far east, US and Korean troops advancing on Vladivostok are hit by a very large scale counterattack, undertaken by powerful Russian mobile units, including tank divisions and air cavalry forces. The Korean infantry are utterly overwhelmed by this display of Russian military power, and are forced to retreat.
Believing that the Russians have stripped their defenses in the city of Vladivostok to launch this counteroffensive, US and Korean forces launch an assault towards the city. However, they find that the Russians are far more prepared than originally thought. 320,000 Russian troops, led by General Rokossovsky, easily blunt the allied offensive, forcing allied troops to fall back to their start positions. It would seem that before the war, Russia had garrisoned very sizeable forces in the area for just this kind of situation. Now this precaution is paying off at the expense of the allies.
In India, 380,000 Australian and New Zealand troops arrive in the theatre of operations, preparing to move into the frontlines immediately. Quite interestingly, many of these Australian commanders are veterans of the Pacific war, who led Australasian forces in bitter combat against US forces. The irony of these old foes now being US allies is not lost on many allied commanders.
In Anatolia, US and South African forces are finally able to break open a huge hole in Ottoman defenses, paving the way towards Constantinople itself.
In Persia, enemy forces launch a large scale offensive against US defenses in Esfahan, defended by only 90,000 US troops. Under this massive assault, US forces are almost forced to retreat westwards, but are saved when US troops to the north and south launch attacks on the Russians flanks. To deal with the American flank attacks, the Russians call of this offensive, temporarily saving the area from falling back into enemy hands.
Back in the far east, US naval vessels off the coast of Vladivostok are attacked by a large fleet of Russian submarines, ranging from modern diesel and nuclear submarines to ancient subs dating back to the 1930's. After a short engagement, the American CVL's are able to force the Russian fleet to withdraw, sinking several of their vessels in the process.
Back in Anatolia, US fighter aircraft are sent into the skies to engage a formation of German heavy bombers, which had been launching attacks on bridges and railroads in the middle east, logistical targets that are vital to the American war efforts further north. After a short but violent engagement, American fighters are able to get through the German escorts and destroy large numbers of German bombers, forcing them to flee back to European airfields.
