@russik112: sorry, I don't have any links to the sprites I use.
Alright, I finally got the ministers working in game, so this can finally continue. I am still working out how to get the German AI to behave properly, but I think I am beginning to get it to work out how I want it too. Now for an update.
An emphasis on mass production during the war with Japan left very little industrial resources to produce upgraded weapons and equipment. With the Pacific war now a thing of the past, the US can now focus on re-equipping the armed forces with brand new equipment. Everything from new tanks and armoured personnel carriers to new assault rifles for the infantry begins to enter service in massive numbers, very quickly closing the technological gap between the US and any potential enemies. (notably, the armies of the Mitteleuropan alliance)
India finishes its war with Afghanistan, with an unsurprising total victory over the small country. India's government decides to occupy Afghanistan indefinitely, in preparation for making the country a new Indian state.
The end of the Pacific war left mighty Russia in possession of the vast territories of northern China. After consultation with German officials and meetings with the exiled members of the old Qing imperial upper classes, Russia decides to establish a revived Qing empire spanning all of Northern China from Xinjiang in the west to Manchuria in the east. Emperor Pu Yi, who had been forced to flee the country many years ago during the Japanese invasion, now returns to the forbidden city in Peking to assume control of his revived kingdom. For the United States, the resurrection of the Qing Empire brings an alarming situation, as Pu Yi puts forward claims of control over not only Tibet and Yunnan, but also the Republic of China.
After the armed forces re-equipment program is completed, the United States once again shifts its industrial focus. After CIA intelligence indicates the beginning of a massive naval rearmament program by Germany, the decision is made to lay down the hulls of 18 brand new Enterprise class nuclear supercarriers, which will be completed in sets of 9. These massive warships, capable of carrying a huge number of advanced fighter jets, will hopefully cement American superiority on the high seas.
The status of American technological research by summer of 1952. American scientists continue to develop new, technologically advanced weapons, such as surface to air and surface to surface missiles.
New destroyers for the navy also begin to enter service, replacing obsolescent models that had been introduced during the war with the Syndicalist powers.
October, 1952. Germany announces to the entire world its successful test detonation of a combat ready nuclear weapon at a facility in northeastern Siberia. Germany now becomes the worlds 3rd nuclear power, with all the capabilities needed to deploy these devastating weapons. By now, rivalry begins to build between Mitteleuropa and the Allies, led by the United States, as Germany, Russia, and their client states continue to contest American and allied power in the globe. Many political analysts give a name to this forming rivalry, calling it a "cold war"......
The US navy's expansion program is further increased, with the laying down of 6 brand new Iowa class battlships as well as light cruisers, armed with a mix of light artillery and powerful guided missiles.
November, 1952. President Harry Truman's two terms come to an end as US citizens head to the polls to elect a new president. The democratic party, which had been in charge of the country for many years, is defeated by the very popular Republican candidate for President: American military hero of the war in Europe, General Dwight Eisenhower.
The new Republican administration of the United States, November 1952. Eisenhower's vice President is Californian Senator Richard Nixon, now famous throughout the country thanks to the so called "Checkers Speech" he gave on national television to defend himself from allegations of illegal campaign donations. Also note the assignment of General Omar Bradley, another hero of the fighting in Europe and one of the key figures from the liberation of Britain to head of the United States army.
