And how satisfied are people of Seattle with their services?
I don't know; but in Hong Kong there are:
1 (once 2) Private, but largely-government-held, railway company, with the government's position crippled as it must act in the company's interests;
1 Private company for the Tramway;
1 Private company for the Peak tram;
Nominally 5, practically 2, private (major) companies for Franchised buses, total of ~6000 buses, mostly double-deckers or "large" in euro terms;
Numerous private bus comapnies, some work under franchise, some under permit, some are private operators which the government can hardly regulate (except by granting vehicle licences), with a total of ~8000 buses of various sizes, from as small as 16 seats to ~61 seats;
No single taxi operating authority, again with the number artificially limited by a licence system, in theory if someone owns a licence for the car and driver one can trade;
Numerous ferry companies, working under franchise;
In a city which the nominal population density is near 7k/sqkm but practically its more like 30k/sqkm as only a quarter is built up land.
