I had an idea on getting an early start on making more my production lines have more efficiency earlier. Lately when I research a new chassis for my armor, I make 3 lines of production of that tank. One line I use for the tanks themselves. However, the other two lines I use to build up efficiency for switching over eventually to SPG's and TD's.
When I start all 3 lines fresh with the new chassis, I see only upside to this. I am pretty certain that all 3 lines gain efficiency at the same pace no matter how many factories are in them at the start. Therefore, I lose no early production of the new tank and gain the efficiency for the gun models as they come on line.
However, if I replace my old tank production line with my new one, I gain some efficiency right off the bat. So, by dividing some of the factories off of that line, I may be losing production short term on tanks to gain production on my new model SPG's and TD's later.
I would never overwrite my light SPG's and TD's with mediums (or mediums to heavy) as I continue to produce those for my motorized/mechanized divisions.
I can't tell enough from the tooltips to get a precise calculation of how it affects overall production but it seems to feel and perform better when the newer models don't have to start from the very bottom on the efficiency bar.
I also make a second motorized production line specifically for switching to mechanized production at a later date.
Does anyone else do this? Has anyone done analysis? I searched the forums but didn't find anything.
Also does anyone know how much efficiency is lost when a factory is added to a max efficient production line? Is it calculated as a percentage of existing production or a flat loss?
Thanks in advance for the discussion.
