I remember someone posted that the Improvement pack is supposed to do bad things if you keep your demesnes over large separated areas.

As in... If my capital is Brugge and I own Venice and Constantinople with no vassals.

Maybe I'm mistaken about that.

Then Venice and Constantinople should get events that give them revolts, thieves guild, highway-robberband, smugglersring.

I'll assume its working as is (or WAD) and that maybe I haven't been noticing it because I was expecting worse events.

It (=the trigger code) just says that for the AI the widespread demesne is checked against the capital location, and for the player it's checked against the king's (i.e. his army's) location. So yes, it affects both the player and the AI.
