i'm mainly sayin this because my amazing assualt into germany as imperial france has been stalemated due to the onset of winter, but i find myself thinking how bad the winter effects are. i can understand that in the depths of russia in winter it would be almost impossible to fight, but in britain or germany? let me tell you that in england in winter as long as you have a coat on, then fighting could continue as normal. however the game, in its infinite wisdom, adds a -75 penalty to attackers, just the same as it would in siberia. in my case, in western germany 1,000,000 men of the french and allied armies are stopped by 70,000 germans with tanks made of cardboard and 1918 weaponry, all because apparently a bit of snow has completely taken away their ability to fight. again, when attacking russia i have no problem with this, but there really need to be different levels of penalties depending where you are in the world - maybe a -10 penalty in england, -30 in germany, which is fairly cold but not attack wreckingly so. fighting didnt stop in france and germany between december 1944 and march '45 did it?
on the same point, why does the defender gain a +20 bonus when fighting in icy condiions? surely its almost as bad for the defenders, or at least doesnt give them an advantage. its still cold, whether you're in a bunker or running across open ground.
on a side note, while im thinking about it, surely there should be effects for hot weather too - if fighting in brazil, itd be almost as hard as in deep snow and ice, due to complete heat exhaustion of your troops.
relax, the rant's over
