NOTE : You can now play with it yourself on the Workshop : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=451040975

After my vision of a better England was so well recieved, I'm just going to start doing other places (mainly in Europe) that I think deserve more better provinces.

Please note that the idea of these changes is too add depth to an area and make it more accurate, but not to go completely indepth in certain areas with tiny provinces. They still need to be clickable and a reasonable size. I'm not going to make an area a mass of utrechts and maltas.

So, this time my focus was the Iberian Peninsula. Here is what I would change if I was Paradox:

EnOtPst.jpg

The changes added a total of 11 new provinces. 2 for Portugal, 1 for Granada, 4 for Castille, 3 for Aragon and also Andorra (Tagless as I heaven't looked at adding more tags yet, so is currently part of Aragon).

C5vXVv0.jpg
lhRGlR7.jpg

There are no new cultures as I don't think there really were any other important ones in Iberia that are not already represented!.

dwou7Kk.jpg

I have also reformed the Base Tax (or development) of the area. This has resulted in a small buff to the whole area (around 5 BT for castille, aragon and portugal). This should mean that France has a bit more competion hopefully!

ZdePtu2.jpg

Again I will be uploading it to the workshop soon, so you guys will be able to play with it. Any amendments would be great. My expertise is in Britain not Spain/Portugal so it could be horribly wrong!

I'm Iberian and I love it! :)

Only problem: Madrid should be a bit more centralized
Yeah, Madrid on this map includes the provinces of Madrid and Guadalajara. Madrid actually wasn't that big or important at that point (Guadalajara was way bigger) so it's not the capital of the province, just the name of it.

Madrid wasn't important in 1444, but in later start dates it was veery important. That's why it's included in the game!

No, Andorra was part of Aragon, in 1620 became part of France and finally Andorra became independent in 1814.
On wikipedia it says that Andorra's soverignty was shared between foix and urgell ( abishop in catalunya). I will probably make it an independent state with a pledge of protection from both france and aragon to simulate this (as you can't have joint vassals). ofc, wikipedia may be wrong but I think that would be more fun for the player anyways

I've already looked at the British Isles if that is what you are talking about, it recieved a similar amount of provinces, which is a ton when you compare the size difference

Lets think about this:
1278- Vassal of Foix- Vassal of Aragon - Part of Aragon
(In some point Foix is independent of Aragon)
1512- Ferdinard II of Aragon conquest Andorra and gives Andorra to his wife - To Aragon
Charles V- He validates the donation of Andorra - Still Spanish
1620- Andorra to France
French Revolution- Andorra is of the abishop of Urgell, Urgell is in Spain, so to Spain
1814- Andorra Independence
In my opinion Andorre should only be independent in 1814, also I think that in the map is too big:

Yes but I prefer the vainilla frontier between France and Spain (its almost 100% historical), the frontier with an independent Andorra will looks horrible:

Some issues:
1. Where is Valladolid? Better replacing the province name Palencia with Valladolid, the latter is the center of the Castilla la Viaja, and definitely more important than the former.
2. Madrid issue mentioned already.
3. Better replacing the province name Lugo with La Coruna. Same reason as the 1. It is the most important port in Galicia during the EU4 period and today. From here the the Grand Armada embarked for Spanish Netherland/ Britain in 1588.
4. Replacing Orense with Santiago de Copostela. The pilgrimage center of all Catholics could not be ignored.
5. Andorra should not exist in my opinion-- Reason? Too small like the case of San Marino.
6. Where is Porto? Better remain the provincial division in the northern part of Portugal in Vanilla intact.
7. Caceres did not belong to the Leonese culture but should belong to Castillan (though it was historically being reconquered by Kingdom of Leon)

All of these points are represented in the fact that these locations are the capital city. It's what it's there for and I didn't want every single province in Iberia to just have the same name for the largest city and for the province. Instead the other provinces in the area have a chance to shine as well (plus they have shorter names that show up better on the map)

2. Madrid issue mentioned already.
Yeah, I've thought about this and I'm not going to change it. The rest of the mod is balanced for 1444 and I haven't added later start date info for the provinces I have added (Cause that would take forever and nobody plays later start dates unless they are going for an achievement which ou can't do with mods anyways). Madrid didn't really exist in 1444 so it's debatable even including it in it's current form.

4. Replacing Orense with Santiago de Copostela. The pilgrimage center of all Catholics could not be ignored.
But it's in the other province? If I did like you ask the capitals of both provinces would be right next to each other and it would not look good visually. As A Coruna was waaaaay bigger at this time and more important, I'll stick with that, unless you think it should be swapped.

5. Andorra should not exist in my opinion-- Reason? Too small like the case of San Marino.
It's not that small, and a TON of players want these microstates and tbh I have no problem adding it. It is a similar size to the size of utrecht at the time and thats represented. Similar size to bermuda and malta and the new djerba province and they're all in there. And it has an interesting enough history that it seems fair enough to me to add it.

7. Caceres did not belong to the Leonese culture but should belong to Castillan (though it was historically being reconquered by Kingdom of Leon)
I didn't know that. I'll change that in a second!

Yes, Braga province should be named Porto or Minho. Braga is a far smaller city in that province. Nowadays that region is called Minho.

I also suggest altering the terrain. Bragança should be Hills, and Beira should be Mountains.
