NOTE : You can now play with it yourself on the Workshop : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=451040975

After my vision of a better England was so well recieved, I'm just going to start doing other places (mainly in Europe) that I think deserve more better provinces.

Please note that the idea of these changes is too add depth to an area and make it more accurate, but not to go completely indepth in certain areas with tiny provinces. They still need to be clickable and a reasonable size. I'm not going to make an area a mass of utrechts and maltas.

So, this time my focus was Hungary. Here is what I would change if I was Paradox:

cPxecvD.jpg

The changes added a total of 9 new provinces and 2 new cultures (slovak and transylvanian) as they were requested a lot from the community on le forums.

EPMETf3.jpg

I have also reformed the Base Tax (or development) of the area. This has resulted in a reasonable buff for the area! I may nerf this as I haven't tested it, but Hungrary is stupidly poor in vanilla so this will give them some beef so that they can defend against poland/austria/ottoderps

e0ATfYN.jpg

Again I will be uploading it to the workshop soon™, so you guys will be able to play with it. Any amendments would be great. My expertise is in Britain not Hungrary so it could be horribly wrong, although I would love to say thanks to AmbroStoics for his help on the Base Tax & Trade Goods and stuff!

Also, you get a small look at the improved balkans map that I will be posting later tonight!

In which culture group did you put these? And assuming you put hungarian & transylvanian in the same group did you also put romanian in there?
I just put slovak, transylvanian and hungarian in the magyar group. Romanian is still in the south slavic one.

I'm going to work now but I'll come back and shoot few ideas mainly for upper provinces in Hungary where Slovakia lies these days. Very nice mod.

Here's my idea for Hungary (Idea behind this was distinguish Slovak provinces and Hungarian provinces):
nP2aJ8B.jpg

I have updated borders. White dots represent province capitals.

Slovak provinces:
Pozsony (Capital - Poszony), Trencsen (Capital - Trencsen), Zolyom (Capital - Zolyom), Szepes (Capital - Locse), Zemplen (Capital - Kassa)
Hungarian provinces:
Sopron (I pushed borded just a small bit so river Dunaj is border right now), Komarom (Capital - Komarom, this is new province), Nograd (a bit smaller), Szabolcs (a bit bigger), Bereg (a bit smaller so it can be Hungarian)
Ruthenians:
Maramoros (I extended borders to cover Rusynes in Hungary - south slavic group)

Abauj has been basically replaced with Zemplen.
With this Slovak regions are just on the top of the Hungary and they are not going deeper to the core of this Kingdom.

Slovak should be Slavic so I will put Slovak culture to the West Slavic culture group and make it accepted culture in Hungary

Location of province capitals should be closer to reality I put regular map over this one and set points. Trencsen was way northeast so I have updated location a bit.
In total i have added onlu 1 more province and change borders a bit.

What do you think?

While I do not mind the border changes, The current borders are better at representing the cultural lines.

If you cut down Esztergom, you give a lot of Hungarian cultured land to a Slovak province, basically gerrymandering it. :) While your proposal is more fit for representing a territorrially distinguished Upper Hungary, the current mod is more historical with regards to culture.

But whichever the mod creator deems more important will make it, I guess.

Also either way Pozsony should be Hungarian culture. At times when the proportion of Hungarians was lowest in the kingdom (19th-20th century) Pozsony county was almost evenly split between Hungarians and Slovaks. At the 1444 start data, there was a definate Hungarian majority IMO. I'll try to dig up and scan some maps.

I see your point and it was a Hungarian Capital for a long time too. I originally want to put Nyitra right between Pozsony, Trencsen, Zolyom and Komarom and shrink Poszony but it looked too overdone.

Yeah, I focused little more to culture borders and not to Teritorial borders of Provinces ... that is true.

I used this map as model and idea: map

Maybe Pozsony should be cut in half just below the border with Morvaia? That would give a more territorrially homogenous region as well, as Pozsony is now half mountains half farmlands. The area around the Danube has very rich soil and was a large centre of food produce production, so the Grain trade good would make more sense. Also this way Hungarian and Czech culture wouldn't share a border. The northern part of Pozsony and Some of Zolyom could be split off to form Nitra, but that might be too many provinces in the area.

Here you go:

Pozsony has been shrinked, Nyitra (Nitra) added and Komarom removed because of too much provinces in one place.

Now the part that I do not like about this is that Esztergom/Komarom is gone, even though it was an important Fort and battleground in this era. Maybe connect Nograd with Pozsony a little above the Danube line and keep the old southern border and chip off more of Sopron for it?

Also I'm thinking right now and the best idea is to change name from Komarom to Esztergom as this is more historical City and pust white dot of capital more to the east.

Also to me it looks bit cluttered right now.

And maybe we can expand Nograd just a little to Szabolcs region so it is not so small.

TBH, I referenced my map from a map of the old province borders of Hungary. Therefore all of them are pretty accurate (as just a cluster of provinces in the area). All your changes change seems to do is shift everything to the left a bit, making the eastern provinces bigger and the western provinces really tiny. I don't really want to add any more provinces to Hungary as they are all quite small and low base tax already, I don't think it is necessary (Especially as when I get round to adding tag's nytra will probably be the slovak culture country so will be represented in game in some way). The only thing that I may do is change my map so that nogorad and esztergom get replaced with provinces that run east-west and like on top of each other (Esztergom+Komarom+Hont+Nograd and Bars+Zoylom+Lipto+Turocz) so that one can be slovak and still look nice on the culture map.

Also, I can't just move slovak into the west slavic group and have it 'accepted' in Hungary. If it does not have enough BT then the game will remove it as an accepted culture when the game starts. The only exception is to have a culture union but they only accept all the cultures in a certain culture group.

I will, however, definitely move trencsen's capital thurther down the river :)

All your changes change seems to do is shift everything to the left a bit, making the eastern provinces bigger and the western provinces really tiny.

What causes this, is that the northern and western parts were much more densely populated, which makes it easier to just want to squeeze an extra province in there because it was historically significant. But I get where you are coming from.
