NOTE : Coming soon to the Steam Workshop : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=451040975

After my vision of a better England was so well recieved, I'm just going to start doing other places (mainly in Europe) that I think deserve more better provinces.

Please note that the idea of these changes is too add depth to an area and make it more accurate, but not to go completely indepth in certain areas with tiny provinces. They still need to be clickable and a reasonable size. I'm not going to make an area a mass of utrechts and maltas.

So, this time my focus was the HRE (Everything but the Lowlands, check out my other thread for those changes). Here is what I would change if I was Paradox:

6x03ysG.jpg

The changes added a total of 18 new provinces. This resulted in 3 new provinces for Austria, 1 for Venice, 1 for Brunswick, 1 for Saxony, 1 for Savoy, 1 for Mr Popeman, 1 for new tag Julich, 1 for new tag Berg, 1 for new tag Strazbourg, 1 for new tag Piombino, 1 for new tag Bologna, 1 for new tag Zollern, 1 for new tag Hohenlohe, 1 for new tag Montfort, 1 for new tag Chur and 1 for new tag Basel.

There have also been new tags added for Geneva, Valais and Fribourg added.

I have added Slovene culture, but that is it. All the culture borders have stayed similar to Vanilla

I am also in the process of looking over the Base Tax for the area, though I plan to not change very much. As all the countries are now a lot smaller, there should be more development occurring.

Again I will be uploading it to the workshop soon, so you guys will be able to play with it. Any amendments would be great. My expertise is not in this area of the world so it could be horribly wrong!

What is the the opinion about Ruppin (border needs to be changed so Altmark connect with rest of Brandenburg) and Vgotland? Their provinces are already in the game so why not?

Ruppin is in as a releaseable. Was Vogtland that important?
Ruppin was independent from Brandenburg until 1524, found list of rulers here that are hopefully not wrong https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindow-Ruppin
And Vogtland is like 3-4 times bigger (with Irl borders) than a province and tag you added in Italy, Piombino. Seems that your province size rule became forgotten a bit in Italy, but I don't mind Piombino tho. And Vogtland got annexed to Saxony around 1560. I also want to say that the Vogtland province should be a bit smaller, get the eastern border moved a few pixels west.

well tbh, can't have the same rules everywhere, if you just go for big provinces everywhere Italy might just have 4-5 provinces and the netherlands 2. You have to make exceptions to make regions work.

Italy and the Lowlands were the richest places in the world, ofc I'm going to have more provinces in those areas! They aren't all tiny but there are a lot more smaller provinces in those areas

And Piombino survived longer than siena and lucca before being eaten by florence, as well as being the perfect province to split the larger siena province up. It also has the island just off the coast ;) And I was just wondering about Vogotland as I had never heard of them before (unlike Piombino and Ruppin which I had heard of)

On the discussion of whether the various dynastic splits of Brandenburg, Austria and Bavaria etc should be represented by independent countries, I believe there should be a consistent solution for all dynastic states in Germany. Vanilla EU4 does not handle this consistently at all. There is no independent Bavaria-Landshut, Bavaria-Ingolstadt, Styria or Tyrol in 1444, no releasable Brandenburg-Küstrin (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_(Brandenburg-Küstrin)) etc. On the other hand, we have separate Lüneburg and Brunswick and an independent Ansbach. The problem here is of course that EU4 is not really good at handling these splits - IRL, it was very common for German dynasties to split their holdings among several heirs which resulted in the inheriting brothers becoming sovereign princes in their own right, but still acting to some extent as a coherent dynastic state. These dynastic territories would very often be united again after one or two generations only to be then split again in a different way.
The introduction of dynastic primogeniture laws, which was a very important process that happened during the EU4 timeframe, put an end to this.

In my opinion, it would be preferrable not to represent those "temporary" dynastic splits by independent countries, simply because the dynamism of it just cannot be represented very well within the EU4 engine. Instead, I would propose:
- all feudal territories in the HRE start with a "dynastic divisions" modifier that gives drastically reduced reduction of local autonomy, and possibly (in order to have an actual tradeoff, and because it makes sense - princes with separate territories will usually have their own army with own commanders) +1 leader maintenance and increased heir chance
-at monarch death, if you have the dynastic divisions modifier, you will get a "Dynastic split" event which increases local autonomy by +50 (or so) in about half of your provinces
- countries with the dynastic divisions modifier can take a decision to Introduce Primogeniture, which removes the modifier and stops the dynastic splits events. This decision could/should require a monarch with high ADM (4 perhaps) and average Local autonomy below a certain level (say, 25) - which, since there is a LA reduction modifier, would have to be accomplished by actively lowering LA and taking the revolt risk

Other than that, nice map changes. I will try to give a little more input (just noticed this thread).

Don't worry I just meant the new ligurian province next to Genoa (La Spezia?) specifically
Genoa needed a buff and when I added Monaco the province of Genoa looked a bit large (compared to Albagena)

The province is called Carrara after the country that held it before Genoa did
