So far, every major DLC had a patch improving some general gameplay feature that was connected with the subject of the DLC, such as factions in the Legacy of Rome.

What I would really love to see done in the Republic is an improvement to the way the Council works, especially by making it more interesting/rewarding for Councillors to hold their positions. This would obviously work well for Republican patrician families who may not always hold the position of the Doge, but be able to hold some Councillor position, but could also work for larger kingdoms/empires, where human players play the role of a Duke or a Count and sometimes get appointed to the council.

Things I would like to see:
- Depending on the Crown Authority, giving the Councillors more autonomy in selecting their tasks rather than being sent on them by their ruler,
- Access to new plots, allowing Councillors to gain benefits somehow (e.g. for a Steward to get some gold from the crown coffers or get himself or a relative given a title by the liege; for a Marshall to convince the liege to start a war - especially for some claim held by the Marshall or his family; or for a Chancellor to fabricate claim on the liege's title and perhaps convince a foreign ruler to invade by pressing this claim),
- Additional plots to gain a position on the council by framing or disgracing the current holder
- Cooldown on councillor replacement, so that they cannot be changed constantly (could also be tied to the Crown Authority etc., e.g. with Autonomous Vassals, Councillors are appointed for life, and with Absolute Authority they can be replaced at whim, with the in-between situations having an actual cool down)
- In Republics, an expectation (with negative relationship modifiers if not met) that each out of 5 families has a position on the council

Sounds good. While the details may need some amendments, I agree definitely that there should be some solid privileges of becoming a council member. This is especially so, when considering that as a council member, you risk the chance of experiencing negative events (e.g., training troops as marshals, plotting as spymaster). Along the lines, I also think that more options should be available to regents and fights over the position of regent should be more interactive and complex than a simple event that pop out requesting a duel every now and then.

Agreed. There could actually be plots available for Councillors (as well as family members of the ruler) to become Regents when there is Regency going. Possibly, for the extra deviousness there could be plots to cause Infirmity of the ruler so that regency can begin (some debilitating but not lethal poison, for example). ;)
