CK2 is virtually unplayable over the Metaserver unless you're one of the Chosen People who manages to propitiate the internet gods with the correct series of sacrifices. I expect that this will also be the case in EU4, just like it was for EU3 etc. Once the game starts you're blessed with joyous sync errors (in other words a CTD that lets you save first) pretty much all the freaking time. You have to restart every time someone wants to join in, or change nations or innumerable other things. It's dumb. So dumb. So very very dumb.

If I want to mess about with a game of Endless Space, I can right click on someone in Steam and join their game. I can drop out and back in without any trouble. Nothing needs to be configured; I just load up the game and play. This is also the case for damn near every multiplayer game in recent memory.

Your games offer a unique experience, Paradox. I enoy sharing them. You enjoy getting sales (DLC and base game) from me badgering people I know into playing MP. Your crappy netcode makes that significantly harder than it needs to be. The only way we've found to play the game at all is a direct connection via Hamachi. This sucks for us because it's inconvenient, and it sucks for you because we're not able to join in on Metaserver games and generate content for other players.

EU4 will almost certainly be seriously awesome in single player. Try to make that true for MP as well.

Multiplayer improvements and stability would be greatly appreciated. Like the OP, I too rounded up all my friends and brothers, forced them to buy EU3 and setup 4-10 player LAN games. That was hard enough - playing over the Internet was near impossible.

I'm actually completely uninterested in MP, so I'd rather that they didn't do a developer diary on it, at least not until the important parts like how the game actually works have been finished with. After all, I'd rather see the features that will matter in both MP and SP.

Dude. There will be aprox 50 dev diaries total, there is no reason to be a selfish ass. There will be enough for all major features (Yes, multiplayer is a major feature for many) and nations, and probably a bit more.

I was just asking if you'd read what news there had been, that's all, as you didn't mention it in any way in your OP. I'm under no illusions about the problems people have in MP, I deal with them every day.

It would likely come nearer to the end of the development process, as there can't be meaningful MP testing without SP play being fairly complete and stable.
