Hello everyone!
I started playing a 1938 (normal, aggressive) game as France. I would like to share some of my observations with you..
a. First, i increased the military salary cost modifier from 0.022 to 0.03. The result was satisfactory. A Belgian army of 15 divisions in 1942 seems reasonable...
b. I (France) decided to abandon the allies in August 1939. The Germans demanded Danzig, the Poles folded (even though they had accepted to be guaranteed by the UK), the UK almost immediately DOWed the Germans (it seems to be a result of the higher aggressiveness setting), the Poles joined the allies shortly (1 day) afterwards, the Germans annexed Poland after 20 days.
c. I allied with the nearly defeated republicans shortly after leaving the allies, and my glorious armies won the civil war for them. After the end of the war, the republicans gathered all their troops in Madrid (where they now have a stack of 20 divisions, seems like a rational army size).
d. The Germans chose "Scandinavia is not important" in the altmark incident, so there was no invasion of Denmark/Norway. Furthermore, the German AI has left both the low countries and France alone. No war until 1942, just a rational amount of German troops along the German/French border (8+8+8 divisions), guarding the Reich against a possible French surprise declaration of war.
e. In late 1941, i convinced Belgium to join my alliance. Shortly afterwards, i deployed all my tanks (6 divisions) and motorised infantry (7 divisions) to protect my new ally. A strong force of mountain infantry (5 divisions) has been sent to guard the fort of Liege.
f. The Germans have deployed most of their armies along the soviet borders. The Soviets do the same. Up to now, Germany is still at peace with USSR. they have 360+ IC, while the Soviets have 280. I know that this peace will not last long (even if the Germans don't attack, the USSR will attack in 1943. It always happens if Poland no longer exists).
Up to now, i am not sure if my ahistorical behaviour has crippled the German AI. The game is quite enjoyable, and I want to see how this will turn out.
Thanks for reading this. I would love to hear your comments.
