I am playing the Ottomans, it's around the 1550's and I'm trying to pull off a westernisation
The jump to Western Technology was quite easy, but I'm now involved in my third attempt at westernising the army, and failing epically.
I can handle the 666 billion rebellions, my empire is quite large but so is the army. It's the extra events that do it for me. I have already picked resist western influences twice to abort an attempt as I was getting overrun by rebels.
ATM my empire is in worse shape than Russia was in 1919, but I'm holding, somewhat. The fucking events have dropped my legitimacy to 13, though. Is it normal for the westernisation rebellions to be so insane or do I misunderstand something? I have to spend several decades in civil war due to the slider changes the westernise event causes and the demands that military westernisation puts on your sliders, right?
I have to say I'm on about 2/3 cores, not overextended and I still have a chunk of Timmy and GH land under occupation, which I also try to keep under control. So far, it works, somewhat.
I understand the resist decision is there to lower revoltrisk, but if I understand correctly that aborts the westernisation process for a decade and I have to fire the descision again to start over, right?
Edit: through delaying events that wanted to kill my stability 3 months before reaching the level needed, I savescummed my way through it. there must be a more legit way to do it, though. right???
