Odd that it isn't there, must be an oversight (checked and it is indeed not there). I guess that the game just defaults to for life in that case. If other terms are desired just adding it to the file should work.

Unfortunately it did not work either. Right after the last tribe I added it like this:

}

civic_tribe = {
title_ruler = -1
title_general = -1
title_admiral = -1
title_governor = -1
title_land_tech = -1
title_naval_tech = -1
title_construction_tech = -1
title_civic_tech = -1
title_religious_tech = -1
}

imperium = {
title_ruler = -1
title_general = 730
title_admiral = 730
title_governor = 730
title_land_tech = 730
title_naval_tech = 730
title_construction_tech = 730
title_civic_tech = 730
title_religious_tech = 730
title_prime_minister = 1460
title_foreign_minister = 1460
title_finance_minister =1460
title_interior_minister =1460
}

And still generals governors, techs and ministers all are for LIFE!...I finally get imperium for the first time ...and all office terms are for life :_(

Guess I'm turning back to Dictatorship...sniff.

I think that the game takes Imperium as a ¿despotic? monarchy (in fact, in the file 'governments.txt' the value of monarchy is yes) and so office-holders expect them to be for life. It doesn't mean you cannot depose them just the day after appointment. It means that whenever you change them, you'll get a loyalty drop. AFAIK. (I played my last imperium centuries ago).

Ok nvm it did work. For some reason the game loaded and I had to wait an ENTIRE YEAR, and the term limits kicked in.

I appointed them in 492, and then it was 94 I was going to change governors, but in mid 94 I chaned to imperium, so I resetted their timers I
believe. Because when dec 24 in 95 arrived, they all said expects to hold this term until 96... so I guess the first 2 years got bugged, but after those 2 years got through the 2 years form the file kicked in.

I tried and despotic monarcy is diff, given that each have different bonuses.
