How are the colonial empires being simulated? For example, how are "spheres of influence" being implemented?

For example, is India going to be part of GB? How will China be possibly carved into European spheres of influences?

China exists as an independent state. The territories that GB owned in india will belong to india. Basically, take whoever owned the territory in 1820 and thats the map. Some provinces are more difficult than others... but I don't see any reason china should be carved up.

I don't think there's a way in EU2 to simulate zones of influence et al except by events & stuff

Will there be an event where GB can take Hong Kong (or the equivalent province) from China?

No, if Britain want it they have to take through a peace agreement. There will be some events that may cause the Opium War and Boxer Uprising I guess though.

I guess that's good enough then. Will there be the "Great Scramble for Africa?"

We discussed that a little bit but we didn't come to any conclusion. Look for the "Scrambe for Africa" thread. Leaving it out woud not be good, so please come with ideas.
